What we're about
Grace Art Events holds weekly life drawing classes in West End on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights
7-9pm. Tuesdays and Thursdays are held at 56 Russell Street, West End- behind the Rumpus Room in West End; Wednesday evenings life drawing is held at the Uniting Church Hall at 11 Sussex Street, West End. Our aim at Grace Art Events is to spice things up and put some LIFE into drawing and drawing into life!
Bringing Brisbane a variety of models, with traditional nudes to vaudeville costume theme nights.
We used to have a fortnightly rotation of a traditional nude model and a costumed model on Wednesdays and traditional nude sessions every Thursday, however, since we have moved venues we are holding costume sessions on Tuesday evenings and alternating them with nude long pose sessions and other art workshops.
BYO your own drawing materials and paper, some charcoal & pastels are available for use. One easel is available for use at the Russell Street venue.
These are untutored classes designed to develop your drawing techniques through practice. These classes suit beginners and trained artists alike, we encourage you to learn from one another, in developing your creativity! In this class, we start with 1-minute warm-ups and work our way up to 15 (and sometimes 20) minute poses.
If you are a complete beginner and are looking for some drawing instruction, head to our website and register your interest and we will contact you when our next beginner drawing course is due to run (no obligation). https://www.graceartevents.com.au/learn-to-draw
There is no need to book ahead, just turn up. Classes are $20 at Sussex Street ($15 concession) and $15pp at the Russell Street venue to help cover costs of hall hire and life models. Often only a few people RSVP, but as people get to know our class they often don't bother to RSVP anymore... our classes often have upwards of 15 people, so don't be shy or worry that no one will be there!
Photos from the drawing sessions are posted on our Instagram account at http://www.instagram.com/graceartevents (http://www.instagram.com/graceartevents)
Often, despite being a social group, the activity of drawing doesn't leave much time for social connection and networking, so we created the Grace Art Events Creative Network where people share their exhibitions, workshops, gigs, events & performances, jobs, competitions and opportunities, relevant news articles, ask and answer questions or just network with other creatives and/or supporters of the arts.
Vaudeville Costumed Events
These are for those of you who are a little bored with traditional nude life drawing and want to spice it up! Still based on the human form, we have different performers from around Brisbane to sit and model for us for the night. Burlesque, pin-up, circus, belly dance, clowns, dancers, even actors in everyday costume such as a builder! Check our Facebook page ( http://www.facebook.com/GraceArtEvent5 ) to be kept up to date with these sessions!
