Beginner Hike - Little River Trail - 4.8 Miles Easy

Little River Trail
Distance: 4.8 miles
Difficulty: Easy, it is a slight uphill on the way out.
Elevation: 350 ft elevation gain on the way and loss on the way back
Type of hike: Out and back

We will meet at the trail head parking lot. It is a small parking lot, so I encourage carpooling.

This is a nice little weekday hike taking a stroll along the Little River. The trail travels alongside the Little River for its entire length. We will start off passing through the remains of the Elkmont cabins and proceed 2.4 to the junction with the Cucumber Gap trail where we will turn around and return to the trailhead.

I plan go at a casual pace and since it is an out and back, people can turn back at any time. I just ask that you let me know.

Important: It is supposed to get up to 95 in Knoxville on this day, so make sure you bring water.

Because it’s the Appalachian Mountains, be mindful of the weather and bring the necessary waterproof outer layers, insulation, water, and snacks to be safe.
