Bastille Day - French Fest! 13kms Syd Hrbr Bridge, Balls Head, Coal Loader Hike!

An Aussie hike mixed with French food and wine?!?! Oui Oui! You gotta love this kinda fusion day... let's do a 13kms CBD hike that turns into a nature lovers gem at Wendy's Secret Garden, The Coal Loader... finishing at Bastille Day 2025 Festival in The Rocks. And how's this for a competition... first to get a French Kiss (not an "Aussie Kiss" - let's keep it G-Rated) at the festival (photo proof required), I'll treat your wine / beer at the pub (and "no" you don't have to participate)!

THE HIKE.
We meet at Wynyard Park in the grass right above the mini-Coles at Wynyard Station - should be super easy to find us. We'll hike straight over beautiful Sydney Harbour Bridge then descend into Milson's Point - get the camera phone ready for perfect Syd Bridge / Opera House views. From there, it's a unique mix of gardens, bush, neighbourhoods, views, and Sydney history:
a) Wendy's Secret Garden - a paradise of greenery;
b) McMahon's Point;
c) Berry's Bay Lookout & Balls Head Reserve;
d) The Coal Loader (tunnel pic); and
e) Berry Island Reserve.

Ideally, I'd love to end at Greenwich Point to take a lovely 20 minute ferry back to Circular Quay / Bastille Day Festival - it runs every hour. If we make it? Super. If not? Wollstonecraft Station is close by.

The hike is 13kms in distance that isn't technically challenging, but there are enough ups / downs to test your fitness. Be chatty, share some laughs, but please be ready to move with passion.

THE BASTILLE DAY / FRENCH FESTIVAL.
Eat. Drink. Be merry. Let's check it out for an hour. It will probably be tough to keep a big group together, so we'll have a meeting point. Anybody keen for a pub after that? My goodness could we get loose at The Orient perhaps???

THE OTHER STUFF.
a) Don’t be late.
b) The cost. The hike is $10. Cash or PayID.
c) Honour Your RSVP. No shows on days like these are… well, not on at all. It's anti-social. You’ll be nudged out of the group.
d) Fitness. Fitness matters. There will be ups. Downs. Trail. Rocks. Nothing super technical / challenging.
e) Transport. We start at Wynyard Station. We finish at Circular Quay.
f) Bring mates, dates, etc...

Loving this Aussie-Frenchy mix. Will be a laugh for sure - who's gonna win that free drink I wonder!
