### 🌊 Two Ocean Races, One Big Night

🏅 The Murray Mile Ocean Classic
A 1-mile open water race — fierce, clean, and fast. Set off the coast of Avalon, this out-and-back course is considered one of the most beautiful and challenging in the Mid-Atlantic.
🧭 The Murray Half
A 0.5-mile option for those newer to ocean swimming — still tough, still purpose-built.
🕠 Race Times
• Murray Mile: 6:30 PM – 7:30 PM
• Murray Half: 6:33 PM – 7:15 PM
💵 Fees
• Mile: $60 + signup fee
• Half: $45 + signup fee

### 👤 Who Was Murray Wolf?

This race honors Murray Wolf, a legendary figure in Avalon’s lifeguard community whose service spanned over 65 years. Murray’s commitment to water safety, mentorship, and integrity made him a pillar of the Avalon Beach Patrol — and a beloved presence for generations.
Murray’s legacy lives on not just through this race, but through his family’s continued service:
🧬 His father and uncle were both lifeguards in Avalon.
🏖️ His children and grandchildren have also served on the patrol — anchoring the Wolf name in beach safety and community service for nearly a century.
This race isn’t just a swim — it’s a tribute to family, duty, and a lifetime of showing up.
