Overview

Kick off the year with a friendly, beginner-friendly hike—great for resetting after the holidays and enjoying nature at a relaxed pace with your pup.

Details

Come join Diana and myself for our annual First Day Hike at Powhatan State Park. We will be doing about 5 miles on dirt trails and also a little pavement. We will stop at the Historic Cemetery on the Coyote Run trail. There will be very little elevation so poles aren’t necessary unless you are unsteady like I am.
Bring water for hydration and for your dog if you bring your pup. No retractable leashes allowed for safety reasons.
Be sure to stop by the Office ( on right as you enter the park) and get your First Day Hike sticker while supply last.
The parking fee is waived on New Years Day.
We will meet in the Equestrian parking lot ( pass playground parking lot on right and Big Woods trail parking also on right. The Equestrian parking is on the left.
Be there by 10:50 for our 11 am start. We cannot wait for you if you are late.
