LoMAZ Away Weekend: Sutton Hoo and Woodbridge

Join us for a LoMAZ away weekend in the heart of Suffolk! This event will run over two days. You’re welcome to come to both the Saturday and Sunday, or just one.

Step into the mystery of Sutton Hoo… where history sleeps beneath the soil.

Explore the awe-inspiring Royal Burial Ground, where one of the greatest archaeological discoveries of all time was unearthed: the ship burial of an Anglo-Saxon king. Climb the 17-metre viewing tower for sweeping views over the River Deben, uncover the story behind the dig at Tranmer House, home of Edith Pretty, and then head to the High Hall exhibition, where replica and original treasures bring the past vividly to life.

SATURDAY 16TH AUGUST

We’ll meet at The Wilford Bridge for chat & food.

There’s 3 attractions all in this same area. Each attraction will only take about 45 minutes to 1 hour. See as many of them as you wish!

12:45PM - 4PM:

• Tide Mill Museum

4PM till late: PUB SOCIAL (optional)
We’ll meet at PUB TBC for chat & food.

BY CAR: Woodbridge stands on the A12. From either direction follow signs to Woodbridge and take any entrance into the town. No onsite parking, nearest car parks are:

WHATSAPP GROUP FOR ATTENDEES
The link will be supplied to those listed as 'Going' to the event. If you’re on the 'Going' list, please join the event WhatsApp group for live updates. Please let a host know if your WhatsApp name is different from your Meetup name.
Link will be given at least a week or two before the event. Joining makes your phone number visible to other members in the group.

GROUP RULES
LoMAZ events are run by volunteers. We have an attendee limit to help the host manage the event. We prefer a smaller, friendlier group.

• If you can no longer attend, please change your RSVP as soon as possible. This lets someone on the waitlist take your place.
• If the event is sold out, Meetup adds you to the Waitlist. If someone drops out, waitlisted attendees are automatically moved to the 'Going' list by Meetup in order of priority.

We remove members from the LoMAZ Meetup group who:
• RSVP as ‘Going' but then do not show up (without changing their RSVP) three times in a row.
• RSVP as ‘Going' but then change their RSVP to 'No' five times in a row.
• Are only on the Waitlist or who have not RSVPd, but turn up anyway.
