Details

This will be our second trip to Red Rocks.I'll get straight to the details.

Rock: Red Rock is comprised of a 3000 foot thick escarpment of Aztec Sandstone. This rock is generally quite well-bonded, being more solid than that found in the other great sandstone areas of the west. Mountain Project lists well over two thousand climbs with 58% of them Trad climbing.

Weather: The first weekend of May for 2023 recorded temps were:

Friday- 69/52, Saturday- 73/44, Sunday- 81/49

Averages for April are 66-77/41-49 and May 75-87/50-59

It is quite common to be comfortable in the parking lot and freezing on the route. The temperature in the canyons is usually ten degrees colder than town, having some kind of wind stopper is always a good idea.

Camping: We've secured the B-Cactus Wren, loop: group campsite.

Cost: TBD

Food: TBD

FYI: Additional information will be posted in the event message board.
