Milky Way or Star Trails

Note: Only submit an RSVP for this event if you’re 100% sure you will attend. If you RSVP 'yes', then no-show or change your RSVP to 'no' within 48 hours of the event, you may be blocked from attending specific events after one no-show, and you will be removed as a member if you accrue three no-shows. This is to allow those on the waitlist ample time to prepare if a spot opens up. We will try to plan other Milky Way shoots if you can’t make this one.

Join me for a Milky Way and or Star Trails! We'll meet at a location to TBD, about 90 minutes from Escondido. I will send the exact location after you have RSVP'd, please do not share the location with non-Attendees.

The sun sets at 7:50pm. The MW will be visible about 9:00pm and the GC should be visible about 9:26pm. MW is vertical about 12:45am Friday morning.

Bring your widest and fastest lens, a sturdy tripod, a remote shutter release, a flashlight with red light capability, and caffeine. Snacks and a chair are also recommended. The most important thing is to be familiar with your equipment, and know how to make adjustments in the dark. I highly recommend getting your focus and settings taken care of prior to arrival (ie., in the daylight!). Use gaffers tape to lock the focus in.

I can send some shooting tips and recommendations a few days prior to the event. Be sure your Meetup notifications are setup to receive e-mail messages.

If weather conditions such as rain, heat advisory or cloud cover/visibility may be a cause to cancel the shoot. I will monitor the weather as the date approaches and make a decision 48hrs before the event time.
