What we're about
IN A NUT SHELL - WE'VE BEEN CHANGING LIVES - ONE SPEECH AT A TIME!
We are a fun and friendly group of people who are interested in the art of presentation, impromptu speaking, story telling and many other styles of communication. You may know it as 'Public speaking' but that is a very SCARY word for those who find it frightening, nerve racking and simply unpleasant! However, we believe that even the timid, the most shy and easily embarrassed of peoples can become future leaders. And that begins by joining a group of liked minded people to develop the art of speaking (from the heart) to deliver your message to the world. To speak about their dreams. Their passions! Their stories!
Where Future leaders are made!
Who are we?
From the flowing waterfalls of the Blue mountains down to the bustling city of Hurstville center, tucked away near minutes from the train station and Westfield shopping center. Amid the asian groceries and delicious rice, noodle and hotpot houses there is a little club housed in Club Central called Hurstville Weekend Toastmasters. A non-for profit organisation.
We are not just a public speaking club. We are the Shaolin temple of public speaking and leadership development!
We meet every fortnight, every 1st, 3rd and 5th Sundays of the month to practice the art of public speaking.
This means we practice the art of story telling, art of improvisation and persuasion and the art of speaking your heart.
No KIDDING! There's a group of people getting together every fortnight to learn this craft!
Imagine, you are at work and your boss suddenly ask you to express yourideas and thoughts. What do you do? Stutter through it? Or will you fend him off with the Art of Improvisation (through table topics) and CONFIDENTLY deliver an off the cuff mini speech in reply to his question. WOOOAH!! as Bruce Lee will say with perfect vocal variety!
Where are we located?
We have now moved to a bigger venue at Club Central! This means we have a bigger room to seat more like minded people. We get a lots of visitors every meeting and those who have became members are on their way to mastering the art of competent communicating and leadership and becoming mentors to new members and thus... future leaders to the community and the world.

How much does it cost?
As visitors, you get 3 free visits to our friendly club before we pick you up and throw you out the door. I'm only joking!!!! Come and observe how we run our club and listen to the fascinating stories and speeches told by our members. We are all individually working on our own arts of public speaking. Some may focus on body language and some vocal variety. We are all encouraged to experiment with whatever speaking style we like. You are encouraged to participate with us but there is no OBLIGATION.
If you would like to join, the costs is very minimal, maybe a cost of a coffee a day. Please come speak to our members and we will tell you how cheap it is!
What is our club culture?
Two words. Positive reinforcement! We have only one objective. To positively reinforce each other to overcome our fear of public speaking. To encourage the most timid and shy speakers to just have a go. There are no EGOS in the room and certainly no perfectionists. We are all learning together to become better speakers and effective future leaders.
Who comes to your club generally?
Did you see our Meetup banner? People who want to conquer their fears and achieve success together in a friendly group environment.
Or to be more specific:
- Those who speak English as a second language and want to practice their English fluency (they end up achieving this goal very quickly and soon start to challenge themselves with different arts of public speaking)
- Those interested in creative writing and would like to express their writing publicly in a friendly environment
- Professionals who want to master the art of speaking and leadership in a friendly environment
- Those who want to be inspired by personal stories. Tickle themselves with laughter with funny stories and speeches.
We are an international community of people who wish to give back to the community through speaking and positive reinforcement. Please check out the video below:
Should I join?
Hmm... That's a hard one. We are violating the rule of what Sundays are for. It's supposed to be a day to chill and relax. Basically the best Sunday is a Lazy Sunday. However, we are revolutionising Sunday! We are turning lazy Sundays into ACTIVE, EDUCATIONAL and INSPIRATIONAL Sundays.
Sunday is not SOMEDAY. It's Today. Come join us now. 1.50pm start to take your seats! (2pm official club opening :D)
I'm lost or I need to ask more questions!
Call Quang - 0414 889 018. I may buy you a coffee if you come! But no promises! Please remember to sign in at the front desk before coming downstairs to our meeting as Club Central is kind of like a 'RSL' club and they need to take records of all their visitors. Otherwise, if it's too hard to follow, just give me a call and I'll sign you in!
