Bertha Peak Trail, Near Big Bear Lake

Details

Let's go to Big Bear for a hike. Please see the description of this hike from Alltrails.
7.2 mi Length
1,348ft Elevation gain
3h 28m Estimated time
Out & back
Bertha Peak is accessed by following the Cougar Crest Trail to the Pacific Crest Trail, and lastly the Bertha Peak Road for a short stretch. The trails are all well-maintained and easy to follow. The climb is consistent but gradual. From the top, there are views of Big Bear Lake and the ski resort across the water.

The trail head is at the Cougar Crest Trailhead. The are restrooms at the trail head. Adventure Parking Permit is required.

It sounds like a lot of fun. We will start early to avoid the hottest part of the day. Nevertheless, please bring at least two litters of water per person. The hike is reported to be less than 8 miles so I'm estimating it should take about 4 hours or so. We will hike at a moderate pass. This is a group hike so everyone will be expected to stay with the group.
