What we're about

Sydney Jam Sessions is an initiative that endeavours to connect musicians and nurture unique talents via a diverse network of passionate collaborative people in an environment that is non judgemental. Each Jam session runs for three hours and costs $20, we have the ability to run more than one band at a time so our Jams are not crowded and everyone gets a go. All the studio and back line equipment including drums are supplied.

Please note, we have 2 jams going at once.

The first jam is organised and in the studio, people nominate songs and we form bands that play the nominated songs.

The second jam is open and free form and no preparation is required. We set up a PA on the main room stage and everyone hangs out on and around the stage, shares charts and plays along.

It's heaps of fun and a really good hang.

Hope to see you soon, Matt.

A message from Shane:

My name is Shane if you are reading this you too are a musician who wants to play in a band but have either not yet found the right people or are a little put off by the audition process. As a musician who has studied for over 10 years, I too have tried to take the next step from bedroom to stage and found that most ads for musicians are seeking seriously skilled musicians with live experience.

I also found that ads for a more ground level experience were rare and very disorganised and as a result I was often disappointed by how quickly the energy would wane. I feel that there are other musicians who would also like the opportunity to meet and play with like minded people who are also interested in sharing their unique talents.

I believe that with the support of a passionate network of jammers our organised jams would become not only a springboard to the stage but also a nurturing pool of creative energy that attracts and inspires others. I have secured the resources and expertise of Circle Music in Botany for one Sunday afternoon a month, this will not only give us plenty of studio space but also the expertise and mentorship to assist in forming and playing in a collaborative outfit. There is also a stage for performance practice as well as recording studio to record jams which are both great for sharpening up the act.
