Learn to paddle in an outrigger canoe!
** To begin, please email Cassy on [masked] to check for availability (at least one day prior), then book in on this event ** Our course will teach you the basics of paddling an outrigger canoe. You will be first taught the technique on land, then get on a canoe and train alongside a mix of paddlers, including fellow novices and seasoned paddlers. You will be able to copy the stroke of experienced paddlers as well as be periodically assisted by your canoe steerer. And you'll get an awesome workout! The session costs $10. We can send you our bank details, or you can pay via PayPal, or in cash to the coach on the day. We meet on the waterfront of the Sydney Secondary College Blackwattle Bay Campus. It's near the Glebe tram stop. If you stand at the corner of Bridge Rd and Bellevue St, you'll see our canoes stored on racks. There's plenty of free street parking around the area. We're always looking for people who will train regularly and compete - try a few training sessions on the trot and see if it's something you would like to commit to! Preparation for the session: Firstly, contact Cassy on [masked] to check for availability, at least one day before the session. You'll need to send her your name and phone number. Also, if you would like to bring any friends, let her know. That way she can make sure everyone has a spot. Please make sure you wear enclosed, grippy footwear as Sydney's foreshore can be slippery and have oysters growing. Generally, an old pair of joggers, or crocs or surf shoes will work. Your feet will get wet. For clothing, wear clothes which are comfortable and warm, and isn't going to matter if it gets an odd splash of salt water. Please also bring a bottle of water for the session and something dry and warm to wear afterwards.

What we're about

This is a group for people who are looking for regular exercise and would like it in the form of a team sport. Our club competes in the open age division in the sports of dragon boats and outrigger canoes. If you think:

• Sport is more satisfying training alongside alike, dedicated minds

• Committing to regular sport training is your thing

Then we're for you! No experience is necessary, but we're keen on people who love sport, can commit to regular training, and love working on getting better.

We're based in Pyrmont and Glebe and we're highly-competive in dragon boat racing and outrigger canoeing. Our members also paddle skis, SUPs etc in their own time. We have paddling sessions available almost every day of the week. We love our paddles and the water!
