Stoicism in Practice: View from above (meteor shower) campout ๐
Details
Join us for a unique camping experience to practice the Stoic principle of "View from Above." By immersing ourselves in the vastness of the natural world, we will gain perspective on our lives and our place in the universe.
Our main purpose will be to gain a good vantage spot for Geminids meteor shower that occurs annually in December.
I have booked 3 campsites at Berrima Reserve, which can accommodate up to 12 people in tents or vehicles.
$10 per person gratuity is expected upon RSVP. Payments can be made via payID 0416147804, PayPal: paypal.me/jonnikaren or private message for direct deposit details.
BYO camp equipment. Facilities include public toilets, cold showers, barbecue areas, picnic tables, structures for shade and shelter, bushwalking, grey water pump out, and fishing. No fires allowed, gas cooking only.
The date of our campout is the peak of the Geminid meteor shower, one of the more reliable and spectacular meteor showers of the year. Unlike most meteor showers that are caused by a comet's debris, the Geminids are unique because they originate from an asteroid, named 3200 Phaethon. This makes the meteors more dense and often brighter than typical "shooting stars."
The shower will be visible throughout the night, with the best viewing times between 3 am and pre-dawn, when the meteors will be at their most frequent. We can get up for a hot chocolate under the stars ๐.
Other Activities:
- we can have dinner together and maybe coordinate the menu in comments.
- Swimming & Hikes
- View from Above meteor shower, reflect on our place in the universe, and put our everyday concerns in perspective.
