Tampa Fiber Arts Conference

Welcome to the Tampa Fiber Arts Conference! Join us for a day of creativity, socialmixing, and fun. Connect with fellow makers, fiber enthusiasts, and creators like yourself. Explore hands-on workshops, engaging show and tell, and check out the GCA community garden. The fee includes a goodie bag, select workshops and lunch! You will also have a chance to win awesome prizes. This conference is your time to unwind, learn something new, and spark your imagination. See you there!

We have a few awesome guests supporting us and here to sell goodies! The Common Thread yarn shop from St. Pete is our official tool sponsor and you can pick up any fun odds and ends and materials you need. Swan City Yarn will be doing a trunk show for all your amazing hand dyed yarn needs.

Lunch will be catered from Loli's Mexican Cravings. We will have a variety of taco fixings available for you to create your own meal. Please fill out the survey before hand!

Bring a work in progress to craft during any down time and bring a completed work that you are proud of to share during show and tell!

Details about Workshops:

A. How to Create with T-Shirt Yarn: Make a Wine Tote - Part 1 with Gabrielle

Learn the basics of T-Shirt yarn and make a beautiful wine tote to take home. Choose from a variety of colors of Amorino Fios t-shirt yarn to create your own tote. (Two part workshop, attend just one or both sessions)
Extra fee- $15 (includes one skein on t-shirt yarn and a tote strap)
Bring a 5-6.5 mm hook to use on this project

B. Deck the Halls: Crochet a Holiday Ornament with Sarah

Let’s deck the halls for the holiday season! Join me in exploring the wheat stitch to make a cute holiday ornament.

C. Free-Form Crochet Game: Make an Abstract Swatch with Kelli

Let’s explore together! In this fun crochet game, dice determines the color of yarn, type of stitches and number of stitches. By the end of the hour, you should have a colorful and textured swatch to take home and a head start on entering the Freeform crochet world.

D. Knit a Cabled Cozy with Sophia*
Free
Learn or refresh your cable knitting skills and make a cozy for a cup with some fun cables.
Bring some knitting needles (and any scrap yarn you want to share)!

E. How to Create with T-Shirt Yarn: Make a Wine Tote - Part 2 with Gabrielle

Complete the wine tote you started in part 1 of this workshop series. Fee covers both sessions!

F. Granny Square'd: Make a Granny Square with Maria

All levels are welcome to join this workshop. Learn the basics of how to crochet a granny square or pick from a selection of unique granny square patterns to create something more complex.

G. Learn to Use a Drop Spindle: Create Your Own Yarn with Sarah

Learn the basics of hand spinning. Let’s get started on creating your own unique yarn.
Extra Fee- $10 (includes a top whirl drop spindle and a sample bag of roving wool to spin)

H. Design your own Tapestry: Create a Graph that can be Applied to Knit, Crochet or Cross-Stitch with Callie

Let’s take it analog style with some graph paper and colored pencils and then Callie will explain how to translate that into a crochet OR knit (or even a cross stitch) piece!

Bring some knitting needles, or crochet hooks with some scrap yarn, or cross stitch needles with cloth and thread depending on what kind of tapestry you’d like to start
