What we're about

This is a group for people based in the Great Southern Region, that are interested in innovation, creativity and collaboration in the region. This takes the form of events that inspire and support people to grow new ideas and support existing ideas. We welcome anyone to our events and community and look for people interested in supporting a community. Our events are a mix of learning, connection and inspiration and include GS Linkup a monthly event around collaborative problem solving, Shipwrecked an event around failure and soup events that enable microgrant making to name a few.

Great Southern Linkup

Great Southern Development Commission

Great Southern Linkup, is an experimental fortnightly connection and learning linkup for members of the Great Southern Community. What is the Great Southern Linkup? GS Linkup is an experimental learning community that will run online (Zoom) and offline (venues in the region) on a fortnightly schedule to develop unique connections across the region and share learning from across the region. One day you might be talking with a Police Officer from Katanning and another day you might be talking to an Artist from Bremer Bay. Diverse connections are the key to the linkup and will support everyone’s learning and our ability to solve problems in a novel way. GS Linkup will also use Action Learning for problems that members might need help with and the more diverse the group the more interesting the insights and solutions we might obtain. Who is the Great Southern Linkup? Hi, I’m Leon if we haven’t met already then nice to e-meet you!I’m the Coordinator for FathomCo and I’m here to support and build Innovation and Creativity in the Great Southern Region. FathomCo will be the primary host of the Great Southern Linkup but we’re happy to share if you would like to help us with hosting duties. Why the Great Southern Linkup? GS Linkup is designed to stimulate connections across a diverse set of people and places. It is our way to connect across the region without meeting in one place. Research has shown that communities that support each other to work through problems and provide a sounding board are more likely to implement creative and innovative ideas and have a greater impact collectively. So the linkup is your chance to support your community in creating and implementing good ideas that might not otherwise be supported! When is the Great Southern Linkup? GS Linkup will take place every fortnight on a Tuesday evening, but you don’t need to attend every session to be involved. The event is online through Zoom conference calling or in person at a venue that will change to allow all to have a chance to meet in person. Do I have to come every fortnight? Nope, drop-in and out as you need and want to attend.
