Women's Coming Out Discussion Group
What is the Women's Coming Out Group? Our Women's Coming Out Group (COG) is a FREE, confidential social support group, a safe* and friendly place for who are same-sex attracted, bisexual, queer, questioning or even unsure, facilitated by volunteers of Twenty10 incorporating GLCS NSW (we have other groups and services too so check our website!) It is a safe* and friendly place to meet and gain support from other women while coming to terms with your sexual orientation and/or a place to meet and socialise with others in a non-threatening way. What happens at a group? The number of people attending varies each group but usually between 10 and 15. Each group is loosely structured around a particular topic, although the content is flexible and determined by what the group wish to discuss on the night. After a coffee/tea and some getting to know one another, we talk about strategies and hear how others cope. You can share as much or as little as you want on the night. Please note, this is a social support group, not a therapeutic or counselling group. The participants and volunteer facilitators are unable to provide counselling or therapy. For a list of future discussion topics see below. Where Is the Group? We meet at Twenty10 incorporating GLCS NSW: Level 1, 45 Chippen St, Chippendale. There is a lift and accessible toilet. For security reasons, you will only be let into the building between 6.50pm and 7.15pm. *Women's Coming Out Group operates within our Safer Spaces Guidelines: All groups at Twenty10 operate within our Safer Spaces Guidelines which we ask everyone to be part of so that everyone feels and is included and safe, both physically and mentally.
