Black Mtn/Thift Cove/Sycamore Cove loop; 7-8 miles, 1,700' elevation gain

Moderate hike. We will meet at the Pisgah Ranger Station middle parking lot at 8:45 for a 9:00 sharp start.
We'll take the Black Mountain Connector trail over to the Black Mountain Trail. Head up Black Mountain to Thrift Cove. Thrift to Grassy Rd Trail, to Sycamore Cove. Sycamore back to the RT 276 where we'll have a short road walk back onto Sycamore Cove to Starens Branch, back to Thrift and then back to the connector and the parking lot.
Total distance between 7-8 miles, 1,700' of elevation gain.
Dogs are welcome, make sure to bring a leash. I'll have my dog with me.
Note that these are all bike trails as well and bikers to have a habit of going down the Black Mountain trail very quickly around blind curves. Caution while on that trail will be needed.
