Watridge Lake and Karst Spring Relaxed Pace Microspike with Afternoon Tea
Details
I love to microspike out to Watridge Lake and Karst Springs. The springs are very beautiful. You can usually see the water running through the green moss, even when the area is covered in snow.
It is a nice flat hike out to Watridge Lake where we will stop for a snack and then go uphill to the beautiful Karst Springs.
Distance: 9.2km
Elevation: 308m
Microspikes, good hiking boots, and winter layers are mandatory.
It's my tradition to go to Mount Engadine Lodge after this hike for Afternoon Tea (a beautiful charcuterie board with coffee/tea and dessert). The tea costs $37 plus tax tip, and additional drinks. Be prepared to be out for a relaxing day. Please don't sign up if you have afternoon or early evening plans.
I prefer hiking with 8-12 participants. This hike will go ahead with a minimum of four people.
Preference goes to those who gave hiked with me before and those who will stay for afternoon tea. I will take two "new to me" people.
I will likely bring my friendly German Shepherd, Jasmine, on a leash. Other dogs with prior approval only. No guests, no children, no running ahead of the group. Please come with a positive attitude.
Once you have been moved to the going list, you can arrange carpooling in the comments. Recommended gas fee is $20. Drivers should have a Kananaskis pass, be comfortable driving on gravel, and have winter tires. I'm coming from Cochrane, so I can take three people from Cochrane or the Petro Can at Hwy 1 and 22.
