The winter gates are about to close until June, so it's time for one last trip to Elbow Lake! I'd like to do a microspike or snowshoe (weather dependent) to Elbow Lake with a campfire and hot dog/marshmallow roast.

You must be able to put on your own snowshoes and have some snowshoeing experience. This will be a fun, relaxed pace group snowshoe to Elbow Lake. We are out for the day to have a campfire, roast our lunch over the fire, and enjoy Elbow Lake for the last time until June.

I will bring firewood, kindling, fire starters to the parking lot. You will bring $2 to contribute to firewood, put one or two pieces of firewood in your backpack to carry to the lake, and bring a roasting stick and items to roast over the fire for lunch. I will build and maintain the fire. ๐Ÿ˜‚

We will meet at the Elbow Lake parking lot at 9:45am, ready to snowshoe at 10am. You can arrange your own carpooling from Calgary in the comments after you've been accepted on the hike. I'm in Cochrane, so I can take three people from Cochrane or the Petro Can at Hwy 1 and 22. Recommended gas fee for this hike is $20. Snowshoes with traction on the bottom and poles are mandatory.

Please dress and pack well for the weather. Expect ice and snow, some slippery conditions. Bring a lunch, water, layers, first aid kit, etc.

We are out for the day to enjoy the mountains, we are not in a rush. Don't sign up if you have plans later in the day.

Distance: 4km
Elevation: 174m

All Slow and Steady rules and waivers apply.

I prefer a group size of 8-12 people. Minimum of 4 to run to hike. Preference goes to those who've hiked/snowshoed with me before. I will take two "new to me" people.

No guests, no children. I may bring my well trained, friendly, German Shepherd on leash. Other dogs with prior approval only.

If you have any questions, please let me know. If you're accepted and cannot attend, please take your name off the list so someone else can have your spot.

There is a waitlist. Please answer the questions to be considered for the event.

Regular S&S waiver and code of conduct apply and will be signed at the trailhead.
