Now and Sept and Oct Events

From: Philo C.
Sent on: Saturday, September 3, 2011 11:21 AM

Today 12-3  there will be a rally in front of the White House in opposition to the Keystone XL pipeline. It is important that we demonstrate to the White House just how many of us oppose having this massive oil pipeline built through America’s heartland.

Here are the details:

WHAT: Rally to stop the Keystone XL Tar Sands Pipeline
WHEN: Saturday, September 3rd, 12:00 to 3:00 PM  (some free pizza)
WHERE: Lafayette Park, in front of the White House

The final decision on whether or not to allow the pipeline to move forward rests with President Obama, so he needs to hear from us now. Please forward this email on to your friends and get the word out.

Impacts of Keystone XL Pipeline - Carbon and Spills
With over 12 spills caused by the Keystone I pipeline, which runs through eastern South Dakota, it is crucial that the State Department take the potential environmental impacts seriously. The EIS is not even requiring TransCanada, the company that hopes to build Keystone XL, to submit an emergency response plan before final approval. In spite of the reported spills on Keystone I, the XL EIS predicts 1.78 to 2.51 spills, of any size, per year.
