A memorial service to honor the life and work of Dr. Alexander T. "Sasha" Shulgin [masked]) at the Berkeley Community Theater. You may be familiar with Sasha's seminal books
or his groundbreaking research in chemistry. But not as many knew the man himself: his sense of humor and skills as a teacher, his grace and kindness. We will share stories, savor memories, and hold space for a future that is wide open, in no small part because of the prodigious life work of Sasha and Ann Shulgin.
In the manner of many dinners and holiday parties at the Shulgin home, the reception following the service will be a potluck. All are invited to bring dishes made with love. Of course that's optional, especially if you’re coming from afar. Due to venue policy, no alcohol, other intoxicants, or smoking is allowed.
This is a free event; however, we urge you to RSVP so we can plan accordingly. Please share this event thoughtfully with those who wish to honor Sasha.
Doors open at 1pm: If you’ve brought something for the potluck, please hand it to a greeter.
Service begins promptly at 2pm: Please enter the theater in silence, well before 2pm. Doors will close. Late arrivals may watch the service on a screen in the lobby.
Reception to follow: Potluck items. Water and coffee will be provided. Formal tea service in the lobby. Connection and merriment.
Event ends at 6pm.
Please note: No alcohol, any other intoxicants, or smoking of any kind is permitted in the venue or on the grounds, which are public school facilities.

For those who can’t attend in person, plans are being made to stream a live webcast from the theatre. When this is finalized, we will add the webcast link to this EventBrite page and to shulginresearch.org/home.
