  • Psychedelic Art Integration Workshop Series (Portland Psychedelic Society)

Check out this great event on Psychedelic Art Integration hosted by Psychedelic Society Portland with ERIE co-founder Larry Norris.

Like meditation, yoga, and breathwork, creative practices are valuable integration tools that enable us to get the most from our psychedelic experiences, and you don’t need to be an artist to reap the benefits. Creativity is a natural part of all of us. The purpose of this workshop series is to show you practical ways to incorporate creative activities into your day-to-day integration practices and to help you build a community that will support you in that process.

Each month we complete collaborative art activities together and discuss ways you can include those activities into the integration practices you already have in place. This month we'll be focusing on intentions as seeds for the life we want to manifest, and we will be exploring narrative elements and storytelling techniques as vehicles to help us shift our perspective and make meaning of the experiences we have while journeying. We will discuss Kurt Vonnegut's theory on the shape of stories and practice some Linda Barry-inspired visual journaling techniques to help us gain a more objective view of where we've been and where we want to go.

In the spirit of building community and to help us further explore our theme, we feature a guest speaker each month. This month's speaker is Larry Norris, Ph.D., co-founder and executive director of ERIE (Entheogenic Research, Integration, and Education) 501(c)(3), a group dedicated to the development of entheogenic research and integration models. Larry is also a co-founder and on the Board of Decriminalize Nature Oakland and helped to co-author the resolution which received an unanimous decision from Oakland City Council. He holds a PhD from the East-West Psychology department at the California Institute of Integral Studies (CIIS) in San Francisco; his dissertation reviews archived ayahuasca experiences to identify transformational archetypes that induce insights hidden within the experiences. To find out more about Larry's work and ERIE's approach to integration, please visit https://erievision.org/.

  • Challenges & Solutions Regarding Mother Earth: The future of the Amazon forest

Challenges and Solutions Regarding Mother Earth: The future of the Amazon rainforest with Eda Zavala Lopez

Please reserve your tickets at the following link: https://icaritosseries.eventbrite.com

“In the Amazon Jungle, Indigenous People work really hard facing not only covid 19 epidemic, but climate change, deforestation, and "clearing" deep forests everywhere. Invaders are increasing during the pandemic and illegal lodgers are now deep in the forest and mountains in Shawi territories. The wonderful and magical medicinal plants are disappearing rapidly. The wise Lupuna master plant just in agony while illegal lumbers cut HIM everywhere just for money (US$23,000). Can you imagine how many thousands of Lupuna trees were cut down during the pandemic? THE WISE LUPUNA is just one of them! Same with Father Tobacco, Mother Ayahuasca, Chacrunita, and Canelo. All wise master plants are in agony because greed and indifference while Indigenous People are trapped between el olvido and discrimination, and almost invisible for the Peruvian government and people. On the other side, corporations and drug dealers are expecting the next exploitation of natural resources and Coca plantations. We can't ignore this. We are talking about our future, the future of Planet Earth and the sanity of our soul.

BUT we are just hundred of thousands ALL OVER THE PLANET THAT JUST REALLY CARE about Mother Earth. And we are here! just waiting for our next move in this complex chess game! A bunch who really care about the future of humans and next generations as well as for all the wonderful creatures and beings around: animals, birds, rivers, oceans, mountains, plants and trees. Are you in?

We decided to initiate a wise and strong campaign for PLANT MEDICINE looking for short and long term solutions. UNIDOS. TOGETHER. Indigenous and no indigenous, just children of Mother Earth. Our work is just to keep going but alongside we have to be very creative and reinforce our strategies. Here is how!

    1) While each one of you does your spiritual retreat just "envision" the rainforest, the jungle and Plant Medicine even if you are in the US, Canada or Europe. With your "envision" you send amazing energy for our job here. You absorb the celestials corps, 'los cuerpos celestes' que son pura energia. Just pure energy 'installing in your body and your soul'. This is just your first step.

    2) When you plan to come to do your journey in Peru just invoke the power of the Apus and Pachamama as well as the Sacred Spirits of the forests (The Jaguar, Chullachaqui and the 'Shepitiaris' -the Great Masters. Los grandes Maestros y Maestras of the Indigenous Wisdom. And talk to your spiritual mentors or shamans to guide you to a remote Indigenous village to make a reverence and promise that your next visit would be just there spending time with the wise elders.

    3) If you already want to plan a healing journey or Spiritual retreat just let us know and we would initiate with you the REAL spiritual initiation with just making a short pilgrimage before you ingest Plant Medicine and then immerse in your spiritual journey with sacred plant medicine for eight or ten days. Ceremonies, flower bath and vegetalist Dieta in the Jungle or near to Tarapoto, the cloud forest or near to the Apus in the Sacred Valley of the Incas.

    4) If you want to offer wise, gentle reverence and embrace our love for Mother Earth, COME DOWN and spend time with us and share your skills and expertise with Shawi youth and children in the Cordillera Escalera, Region San Martin. Come and be part of activities like Permaculture, Plant Medicine garden, Reforestation with Lupuna, Cedro, Canelo, Ayahuasca and collecting them from the jungle. Together, wise elders, children and youth can RE-PLANT Master Plants. Sacred Medicine. Teach technology to Shawi children and installing solar panels.

Medicine people 'sopla' your head, whisper wisdom to your soul, and bless your 'corona' to protect your spirit." ~ Eda Zavala Lopez

The Soul Home: A Panel Discussion ft Larry Norris, Oyi Sun & Jane Latimer. Hosted by Jayson Harris & Kazzrie Hekati.

Panelists will explore the idea that the ineffable space we experience during a "trip" may be our Soul Home, & our life-on-earth reality may be fleeting & temporary.

This amazing panel will carry the discussion with their thoughts on questions like:

    - What is the Soul Home?

    - What makes it so familiar?

    - What experiences with the Soul Home would you like to share, describe or discuss?

    - How & when do we access the Soul Home:
while "dreaming", tripping, meditating, Shamanic Journeying...?

    - What archetypes exist in the Soul Home?

    - Are there common elements: i.e. akashic records, crystal palace, spiritual mentors, etc?

    - How does our thinking mind relate to the Self or Soul?

    If this concept is true,
    - What are the implications for our consciousness?

    - How does life-on-earth work, integration, & purpose, relate to the Soul Home?

  • Integration: The meaning of meaning-making with Larry Norris

**This virtual event is being hosted by the Portland Psychedelic Society**
    https://www.meetup.com/portland-psychedelic-society/

"Hello every one! This is a special meeting with guest Larry Norris from Entheogenic Research, Integration, and Education (ERIE), a 501c3 nonprofit located in Oakland!

Integration is becoming a popular practice as more and more people are exploring the potentials of entheogens. Integration refers to a meaning-making process following a profound experience. But there are currently many approaches to integration. How do you find the right approach for you? For some, this may require a professional therapist to help them reflect on psychological issues, others may require a spiritual mentor for spiritual inquiries, and others prefer a peer sharing circle. This talk will review and discuss the basic approaches and paradigms of thought regarding integration, as well as give practical guidelines and tips for creating your own peer integration circles in your community.

Larry Norris, Ph.D., studied biopsychology and cognitive science as an undergraduate at the University of Michigan Ann Arbor, and recently defended his doctoral dissertation at the California Institute of Integral Studies (CIIS) in San Francisco. His thesis reviewed archived ayahuasca experience reports to identify archetypes of transformation and insights to help develop integration models. Larry is the co-founder and executive director of Entheogenic Research, Integration, and Education (ERIE), 501(c)(3) nonprofit located in Oakland, CA. ERIE focuses on the development of community education, research, and integration models related to entheogens. Larry is also a co-founder and board member of Decriminalize Nature (DN), which sprouted from Oakland in 2019 and has already received unanimous decisions in both Oakland (June 4, 2019) and Santa Cruz (January 28, 2020). Larry is the co-lead for DN’s national outreach and supports communities in cities across the USA seeking to propose similar legislation. In Oakland, he is also helping to support the Oakland Community Healing Initiative, a pilot program under development to provide grassroots, community-driven, bottom-up approaches to entheogenic healing and integration. Larry is a dedicated activist and proponent of consciousness justice and liberty, and emphasizes the sacred potential of entheogens given the appropriate set, setting, and intention."

"Our Indigenous Peoples and the Amazonian Mother Jungle have faced multiple tests throughout history that have brought them to the brink of extinction. Now we face a new challenge, Covid19, which devastates sister communities and peoples amid the abandonment and indifference on the part of governments and urban society. Societies that indirectly admire ancestral knowledge but absorbed in their own egoisms and individualities. They only remember the Amazon jungle to talk about its exoticism and its "popular wisdom" Popular knowledge? How can we say that wisdom is popular? Popular because of how successful the use of master plants is in the western world? What do we do for our peoples and for our teachers who have such knowledge? Will we hope that all of them go to the other dimension to just appreciate the true meaning of indigenous knowledge?

What happens after the pandemic? How do we act now in reverence for that wisdom? How can all of us continue in the midst of this pandemic that generates more fears and uncertainties? More existential voids?
How to look at the light of indigenous knowledge in the middle of the dark and terrifying tunnel that paralyzes millions of humans? How to reconnect with our ancestors, with our roots, with that wisdom that is dormant, ignored and hidden deep within our being? Will we be able to see the light at the end of the tunnel and bring it to the middle of the tunnel where we are stuck to illuminate the path that leads us to the liberation of our spirit?

Let's talk about this in two weeks and for two hours, let's seek the light together. For our ancestors, for our teachers, for the infinite indigenous wisdom. For Mother Earth."

Eda Zavala Lopez, sister healer and nature activist, Peruvian, who lives in the Amazon surrounded by chullachaquis and protective spirits that refresh the soul in these times of pandemic. Come join in with Eda, Veronica and Larry. Share with us.

All ticket sales and donations are received to continue supporting the mission in the Amazon with the Shawi. THANK YOU!!

The Shawi are lucky to have Eda Zavala as their advocate. An anthropologist, sociologist, Curandera and wisdom keeper, Eda works tirelessly to protect indigenous lands and the pure places of our mother earth. She has been working to secure the homeland of, and opportunities for the Shawi for the last 7 years and is instrumental in their success.

Donated funds and resources are stewarded by Eda as the Shawi learn the skills necessary to navigate the westernized world on their own.

    Shawi means - "The people"
We are Indigenous. We are coming to join your world.
We are 880 people, in seven villages, living on the edge of two worlds. We are people of the Amazon. We have lived here for hundreds of years. Our traditional land has been stolen by illegal loggers and miners, but we persevere. We can not harvest the medicinal plants that we have always relied on. We can no longer hunt enough to survive in our ways. Today, we maintain our culture and traditions, while beginning to adapt to a different way of life.
Our elders and our youth work together to find a way forward for our people. To stay together. To speak our language. To protect the part of our land we remain on.
The journey for us to regain self-sufficiency as we integrate with the western world will take years. We are planning. We are learning. We are committed, and we need your help.
