Mass Effect: Niven's Star

Ubicación visible para los miembros

Our ongoing campaign set in the Mass Effect universe using Evil Hat's Scum and Villainy system. New Sci-fi game based in a fantastical zero gravity world populated by behemoths and warring pre-space faring cultures. Drama will be focused on relationships, survival, and first contact. Think the species and technology of Mass Effect discovers the Avatar world of Pandora. The story will revolve around a new world, so you don't need any pre-existing knowledge of the setting. # Campaign Premise Niven's Star: The groups on an exploratory mission to find a new home when they come across a totally new kind of star system. The stellar remnant is surrounded by a solar system sized shell of room temperature nitrogen and oxygen. It's a breathable atmosphere of unimaginable size filled with life floating in the 0g of space. The system is home to planet sized plant life and animals of every size. Many sapient cultures have developed in this floating expanse though the area is so wide that they defy cataloging. The huge fantastical beasts are going to make this feel more like fantasy than Star Trek. What will contact with the outside universe mean for Niven's star? Style: One of my inspirations is James Cameron's Avatar. Culture clash is a real source of drama, though it won't be good vs. bad morality. Biotics are Mass Effect's telekinetics, which are going to be more effective in a zero-g environment and a major theme in the game. I like Mass Effect's lineup of species and tech but I won't be making any references to the Reapers or Shepherd, since that story has been done. I'm open to people bringing in their own world building as well. System: I like my systems simple and punchy. I'll be using "Scum and Villainy" from Blades in the Dark. The game supports a network of factions that push on each other. Blades uses a "team base" or "team ship" for upgrading as a group character sheet. To clarify: my games don't have Obvious Good Guy vs Evil Military. There will be factions that want things that conflict and not all decisions will be obvious. Not your daddy's Mass Effect: I'm using ME as a starting point because I like their tech style and species. Much of the story will revolve around a new world of my design, so you don't need any pre-existing knowledge of the setting. This is not going to be a romp around Cannon ME homeworlds. The start of the game will be a zero-g survival and diplomacy challenge around Niven's Star. I love the rich storytelling of Firefly, Star Wars, Cowboy Bebop, and Marvel. Not everyone need be a stoic Alliance officers. I welcome space cowgirls, down to earth colonists, and eccentric dilettantes. # Players This is going to be a character driven campaign, so I'm looking for characters that can bolster each other's stories. Players that work well and are having fun will be invited back. Over time, this builds up a group with really great chemistry and can lead to long term friendships.

Waterdeep: Dragon Heist -- D&D 5e

Welcome to Waterdeep, the crown of the North, where a wondrous tale of urban adventure is about to unfold. Dragon Heist is a short 1st to 5th level adventure where you and the rest of your party race to find a cache of treasure before everyone else. Waterdeep is a city of firm laws and swift justice. Adventurers hell-bent on slaughter and plunder won't fare well in the City of Splendours. The punishments for assault, arson, theft and murder are severe, regardless of the reason for the crime. You begin at a meeting with Volothamp Geddarm, the famous explorer and raconteur, who has a quest for you – one which entangles the group in a bitter conflict between two nefarious organisations. These criminal networks are on the verge of starting a war on the streets – and you are in danger of being the next causalities. On top of that, rumour has it that there is a great prize hidden somewhere in the city, waiting to be claimed. One that is in danger of falling into the wrong hands -- or, if you prefer, any hands but your own.
