Lo que hacemos

This is the Python Users Group Berlin (PUB). We host presentations and discussions about Python and Python-related software development (mostly framework-independent).

Currently most talks are held in English language but we usually switch to German if all visitors speak German. Please indicate your interest on the mailing list (http://starship.python.net/cgi-bin/mailman/... (http://starship.python.net/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/python-berlin)) if you are interested in any specific language so the speakers can prepare for that. We meet every 2nd Thursday of the month at 7pm at co.up (http://co-up.de) (close to Kottbusser Tor or "Kotti" ;-). Since attendance rate in Berlin is usually under 50% only we've stopped limiting the number of RSVPs. As we have space for 40-60 people at co.up (http://co-up.de) the rule is: first come, first seated.

There is a new slack (http://slack.com) team for us named pythonberlin (http://pythonberlin.slack.com) for which you can invite yourself here: http://pythonberlinslack.herokuapp.com (http://pythonberlinslack.herokuapp.com/)

You might also want to subscribe to our mailing list (http://starship.python.net/mailman/listinfo/python-berlin) (usually in German) which has become rather low-traffic over the last years.

Event organizers, please note: As we receive too many messages asking us to advocate specific events we usually don't do that, except for very special cases with high relevance to the Python community. If you want to advocate your event you're kindly invited to show up at the next meetup in person and give a lightning talk (5 minutes) about it.

But what if you could know pros and cons, possible examples and success stories? What if you could choose by your considered and mature choice. This talk will guide through best practices of using service and microservice architecture, what is the difference between them and how to implement them in your project. Anastasiia is a PyBerlin group co-organizer, currently working as a Senior Software Developer in XAIN AG (https://www.xain.io) with more than 7 years of experience in software development. ★ Oh no, I forgot to water my plant!: the funny but practical story of how python helped my plants to survive. The hardest part of owning a plant is not to kill it. Plants are sessile organisms (this is, organisms that cannot move) that depend on the environment to obtain water and therefore, to survive. When we grow a plant inside our house, it depends 100% on us to get both sunlight and water. Nowadays, many people are so busy with work that they do not have enough time to properly water their plants when they need it. In this talk, we will see how python can play an amazing role in these kinds of situations, by helping plants to survive longer, and by making our responsibility lighter (taking some responsibility from us) and how CircuitPython is an excellent choice to start programming hardware and connected devices. Maria Jose is a Women in Machine Learning and Data Science co-organizer, currently working as a Product Data Manager at ZAGENO (https://zageno.com/) ★ Using tests to improve the onboarding experience A quick demo of how we could improve the Onboarding experience of our new teammates, making it more visual and interactive, using tests! Eli Flores is a Django Girls mentor and is currently working as Software Engineer at Sauce Labs (https://saucelabs.com/)
