Lo que hacemos

Hello...

Welcome to London Weekend Walks.

If you're looking for short weekend walks in London (approx. 2 hours at a steady pace) then this group is for you. My walks are open to all, they are interesting and fun and offer you a chance to socialise with new people and see more of London. Walks will go ahead whatever the weather so if it's raining please do wear appropriate clothing. Most walks will be on pavements so won't be muddy. Some will be through parks.

Our walking pace is leisurely and I explore different and interesting parts of London - and always end in a good pub for an optional post-walk drink for those of you who'd like to stay and socalise after the walk.

Open to all. All ages - all abilities. Children are very welcome and dogs are welcome too (at no cost).

All walks will start and end near a tube station so are easy to get to and depart from. I make a small charge per person for each meetup event (payable in cash at the start of the meetup - usually £4 per walk) to cover my expenses, tax and time in organising the meetup.

I also have a WhatsApp broadcast list so you can receive a single message via WhatsApp around a week before a walk is coming up. This is not a group so you won't receive endless messages, nor can other people reply to the list or see your mobile number. It is a simple list and when a walk is coming up I send out a message via WhatsApp to advise everyone of the walk details. If you'd like to join this list please send a message to me (Kumar) via the Meetup website or app with your mobile number.

So if you want to have some fun, see more of London, socialise, chat to other people, get some exercise and go on nice walks in London then join us. Please ensure you attend at least one walk in six months as inactive members will be removed.

By attending a walk on this Meetup group you confirm that you agree to, and accept, all the Terms stated at https://www.meetup.com/londonweekendwalks/pages/28491884/Terms/ .

Feel free to bookmark https://www.meetup.com/londonweekendwalks/events/ (https://www.meetup.com/londonweekendwalks/) so you can navigate back to this group easily in the future.

I look forward to seeing you on one of my walks soon.

Best,

Kumar

Brighton Day Trip: the beach, the lanes, Brighton Pier, fish & chips and more!

Please read all details carefully.... DESCRIPTION: Who's up for a day trip to Brighton? We will explore the North Laine Bazaar, then The Lanes (narrow cobbled alleyways which formed the early town of Brighton and now have some amazing funky small independent shops and stalls) after that we'll head to the beach, have fish and chips for lunch and then walk along Brighton beach for some sun and fun! We'll also explore Brighton Pier (when I went last year a seagull slapped me around the head and face and ate my prawns so we have to be vigilant!). We'll find a nice pub for some drinks and we'll take regular breaks throughout the day so it's not all walk, walk walk! I will gauge the mood and tempo of the group and we will walk / explore / have a break as we see fit. START POINT AND START TIME: We will meet at 9:50am SHARP at London Bridge station. Go through the ticket barriers and meet outside Leon next to platform 8. Please meet on time as we need to catch the 10:15 train to Brighton. END POINT AND END TIME: We will catch the 18:26 train back arriving into London Bridge at 19:34. TRAIN TICKETS: Please buy your own train ticket in advance. If you are coming best to buy your train tickets now. Currently the train price is £12.50 return. Tickets you need to buy: Out 10:15 London Bridge to Brighton (arrives 11:19) Return: 18:26 Brighton to London Bridge (arrives 19:34) Return currently costs £12.50 (Super Off-Peak Day Return on ThamesLink). Train prices may go up so buy your tickets now. The following link should take you to the ticket selection page on ThamesLink: https://tinyurl.com/y5ufb2l5 ALTERNATIVE TRAVEL TO BRIGHTON If you wish to make your own alternative travel arrangements to Brighton (such as travelling from Victoria, Croydon, Clapham Junction or elsewhere) please feel free. Please ensure you get to Brighton by 11:15am and meet us inside Brighton train station in the corner by WH Smith and M&S at 11:20. Our train from London Bridge arrives into Brighton at 11:19 so you will need to meet us then by WH Smith / M&S at 11:20 as we will not be hanging around. LUNCH, SNACKS and PUB: We will go for fish and chips by the beach around 1pm. If you do not fancy fish and chips then you are welcome to go to a different eatery of your choice (there are loads of cafes / restaurants / food places nearby) and you can meet back at the fish and chip place. I will give my number to any of you who go elsewhere so you can be sure to meet us after lunch. You can even bring a packed lunch if you like. It's entirely up to you what you prefer. I cannot resist Brighton's fish and chips though! Also, in the afternoon along the pier and beach there are plenty of food places. I will definitely be getting my mixed seafood snack on the pier (and avoiding the thieving seagulls). We will stop for snacks along the way. Pub: I will find a good one in Brighton to go to before we get the train back. COST: The cost of this walk is £5 payable in cash on the day at the start of the meetup. Plus the cost of your train tickets. WEATHER NOTE: It is likely to be sunny. :) Please bring a bottle of water with you. The meetup however will go ahead whatever the weather. Eating fish and chips in the rain is character-building!! RISK WARNING Seagulls FURTHER INFO: You can read more about Brighton here: https://apairofpassports.com/brighton-one-day/ LEAVING COMMENTS: If you have RSVP'd 'Yes' then find that you cannot go, just change your RSVP to "No". TERMS: By attending this walk you confirm that you agree to, and accept in full, all the Terms stated at https://www.meetup.com/londonweekendwalks/pages/28491884/Terms/.

GROUP TREASURE HUNT: The Secret of the Shard

London Bridge Station

8,00 GBP

This is a fantastic, fun and challenging group treasure hunt in the streets around London Bridge and the Shard. You'll find clues located amongst the buildings, parks and side streets and nearby areas. The treasure hunt is aimed at adults but children over 8 will also enjoy it too and can help out. You need to be a good collaborative team player, sharp, energetic and sociable to enjoy this treasure hunt. THE PLOT: When the Shard was being built, during the excavation the builders found an old treasure chest but they were dishonest builders and they stole it. Lord Shard has some clues and would like teams of people to work out where the treasure is so the police can retrieve it. Can you help Lord Shard find the treasure? DESCRIPTION OF THE GROUP TREASURE HUNT: We will meet at 1pm SHARP inside the main London Bridge station by the exit to St Thomas Street. There are some brown wooden seats just inside the station under the train departue boards. Meet there. After a debrief, and maybe a couple of tips, you will be split into teams, introduced to each other and then head off as a group with the clues to locate the treasure chest. The treasure hunt is not easy so you will need your thinking caps on and your minds will need to be sharp and focused! You will be searching high and low in and around the nearby streets. If you are really stuck, help is available (as a last resort!). You will need to solve the clues as a group and hopefully the collective brains of your group will be able to find the location of the stolen treasure. There will be no group leader - you all have to work together as a team. This is an exciting and fun treasure hunt and you may see parts of central London you didn’t even know existed. It is not soooo hard that you won't be able to do it. If you chip in, think, work as a team, look high and low and use the help and tips provided on the day you'll be able to locate the treasure. But.... can you be the first team to locate it? ;) Once you have solved all the clues, and have worked out the location, you will need to Text/WhatsApp your answer to Kumar. Then your team will need to get to the pub for the winning team to be announced. *RISK WARNING* - the roads around central London are very busy so please cross all roads carefully and safely and ensure you cross at the green man where available. START POINT and TIME: We will meet at 1pm SHARP inside London Bridge station by the exit to St Thomas Street. There are some brown wooden seats just inside the station under the train departue boards. Meet there. I am an Indian-looking man with glasses and will be holing a Meetup sign. END POINT and TIME: You should end around 4pm then head to a pub near London Bridge. We will be going to The Bermondsey Bar and Kitchen, 40 Bermondsey Street, SE1 3UD. PUB AFTERWARDS: At the end of the treasure hunt, you will need to join your group in the pub for the winning team to be announced. You can stay in the pub (optional) for some post-treasure hunt socialising and share the experiences you have had whilst on the treasure hunt. We will be going to The Bermondsey Bar and Kitchen, 40 Bermondsey Street, SE1 3UD. COST: The cost of this treasure hunt is £8 per adult (payable in cash on the day at the start of the meetup) to contribute towards the organiser's meetup fees and costs and time in arranging and planning the treasure hunt. For children under 16 the cost is £2 each. TERMS: By attending this meetup you confirm that you agree to, and accept in full, all the Terms stated at https://www.meetup.com/londonweekendwalks/pages/28491884/Terms/ I look forward to seeing you on this exciting treasure hunt!
