Sat 13 - WATER HIKE - BEAUTIFUL ROCKPOOLS AND CREEKS OF THE LOZOYA - By Bus!

Madrid has many shady and watery routes in nature, but this one is definitely on our top 3. Is a gorgeous trek, pretty secret and hidden, away from the masses. Waterfalls, rockpools, creeks, ancient trees, giant granite boulders.... The area is very close to Peñalara natural reserve, along the creeks that everyone overlooks because they're out of sight and inside the forest. A true secluded gem of a hike, a gorgeous day out and only medium level so apt for everyone!

THE HIKE - DESCRIPTION

This circular route, passes through small nature paths off the main trails, runs along one of the least known areas of Madrid, the creeks around Río Lozoya, with its natural pools and clear waters. It starts downhill, with some rocky passes and it continues all the way down until we start the way back, which has a gradual uphill incline to get back to where we started. So save up some energy for the end! We'll do frequent stops on the rockpools to refresh, take photos, rest and have lunch.

IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT NO-SHOWS

We understand sometimes there are last minute issues, sudden sicknesses or unexpected situations. We kindly ask members to please honor their reservation for several reasons: spots are limited, the guide needs to plan for the group, there's an insurance per person that has a cost. To avoid recurrent no-shows, we will take out of the Sporty People member's list anyone who's been a no-show 3 times. Thanks for understanding that, in order to offer you great activities, we need to be able to trust our attendance list! :)

HOW TO GET THERE

• By BUS - Take bus #691 from underground Intercambiador Moncloa at 9:30 am. (Nivel -1, Isla 2, Dársena 21. SUPER IMPORTANT: Get there with minimum 20 min in advance. BRING CASH AND BILLS NO LARGER THAN 5€ - GET OFF THE BUS IN COTOS STOP - THE PLAZA.

NOTE: Remember metro runs less frequently on weekends, and buses sometimes fill up because there's people waiting in line. Don't miss the bus! Every week someone misses it, don't be that person!

WHAT TO BRING

• Comfy clothing in layers (include a light rain jacket if the weather is uncertain)
• Your lunch
• Hiking or running shoes (bring another pair of socks as well, in case you get them wet)
• 2 liter water per person (please don't bring less!)
• Swimsuits in case we go for a dip in the rockpools
