For a taste of local culture we can stop at a traditional cockfight. We end the day with sundowners and relaxed beach time at Areia Branca before dinner. **DAY 2: HATUBUILICO – MAUBISSE** After breakfast and hotel check-out, we depart for the highlands with panoramic views over Dili, the bay, and Atauro Island on the horizon. We pause at the serene WWII Memorial, then continue to the historic town of Aileu for lunch at a scenic vanilla farm. The drive continues through rolling green hills and coffee plantations until we reach charming Maubisse. In the evening a traditional welcome ceremony awaits, complete with warm local hospitality. **DAY 3: MT. RAMELAU** Early wake-up, and depart to the trailhead of Mount Ramelau (2,963 m), Timor-Leste’s highest peak. The steady 2 hr ascent brings us to the summit in time for a spectacular sunrise. Cheer up the sunrise with few selfies, descent and reaching the base by mid morning. Return to the guesthouse for breakfast and a quick refresh, then drive back toward Dili with a refreshing stop at Dokomali Falls – a hidden gem where clear mountain water cascades into a natural pool surrounded by lush jungle, perfect for a cool swim, and a light picnic before continuing to the capital. Overnight in Dili. **DAY 4: ATAURO** Morning transfer to the port and a scenic ride to Atauro Island. After settling in, we spend the day snorkelling over vibrant coral reefs and exploring the laid-back main village. Fresh seafood lunch, relaxed beach time, and the gentle rhythm of island life take over. **DAY 5: ATAURO** Breakfast at leisure, followed by a boat trip along the untouched western coast to snorkel at Atekry, Adara, and Iliana are some of the healthiest reefs in the region. It is the part of land closest to the center of the planet - coinciding with the passage of the Equator and very close to the zero meridian. São Tomé marvels with their **Portuguese colonial mix**, beaches and the laid-back atmosphere in the Gulf of Guinea. A very important portion of virgin forest, declared a Biosphere Reserve, with the Ôbo Natural Park as the main banner, numerous cocoa plantations or coffee (known as roças). A country with dazzling landscapes with incredible volcanic chimneys emerging in the middle of nowhere, a huge number of endemic animal and plant species, as well as others such as sea turtles, birds and whales, which are part of the objective of many nature lovers visiting the country. The small country exhibits the traces of a troubled history that began when two Portuguese navigators landed in 1470 in this then deserted site. A story that is revealed to those who wander the streets of the capital (which is called, like the island, Santo Tomé). The parallel architectures of this tiny city summarize the history of the country: some old wooden huts evoke the initial time, when the islands were populated by slaves brought from the mainland. Some colonial buildings with large wooden balconies recall the five centuries of colonization. Uniform, greyish apartment blocks hark back to the era of real socialism, from independence in 1975 to the political and economic liberalization of the early 1990s. Meanwhile, a few ultramodern buildings made of large glass point to the future. The engine of the country's wealth and today constitutes one of its great cultural and tourist attractions: **las roças**. If it weren't for the insidious humidity, the visitor could have the sensation of landing on some sugar plantation in the Brazilian northeast: the same buildings with a colonial flavor, the same atmosphere of an old decayed empire. Also its train to transport the merchandise, as some old rails recall. **The most incredible landscapes on this side of the equator**, with various reminiscences of films such as Jurassic Park, King Kong as well as others in which the jungle is the setting. The sunrise from peak of Kelimutu (1,639 mtrs) overlooking the caldera of three colored lake is nature wonder on its own, unwritten category. The color candy of lakes waters from blue to cold-steel grey, reflecting the early sun rays is mixed mere fogs and clouds... Once we reach the peak for sunrise we will continue hike behind the volcano for few hours before we come back to the lodge. **Day 3 / Cycling jungles of Kelimutu & tribal village of Moni** Cycling in the nearby villages for half day, after lunch check out and leave to Ende, on the way visiting tribal village of Moni. Overnight in Ende. **Day 4 / Sailing starts!** Labuan Bajo, sailing starts. In the morning flight to Labuan Bajo and finally board a private pirate sailboat that will be our home for the next three nights. The boat has a wonderful top deck for lounging, sunbathing, and offers great views of the island chains. In the morning, we will be passing uncounted islands. We will have lunch on the boat at the port of Rincca Island. In the early afternoon, we will enter the national park on Rinca and get our first views of the Komodo Dragons. We will do a trek through the grasslands, looking for the infamous dragons in their natural habitat. The impressive 10 feet long lizards hunt their prey by biting them once, and waiting for the infection to set in and cause death. After our exploration of the island, we will head by boat to dock for the evening in a bay surrounded by mangroves. **Day 5 / Komodo Island - Chase the Dragon!!!** We will visit the island of Komodo in the morning and take a trek on a jungle trail, chasing the dragons and an endless array of flora and fauna. We will get back on the boat for lunch and sail for an hour to a great afternoon of snorkeling in one of the most diverse underwater ecosystems in the world. The Coral Triangle stretches from Sulawesi to Papua and Flores. It is known for having the highest biodiversity of marine life on earth. We will spend the night in a quiet bay after snorkeling. On the way we will stop by on crystal clear beaches for snorkelling with 2 mtrs mantas and enjoy last day of pirating. **Day 7 / Labuan Bajo – Jakarta** Check out from the boat and connecting flight back to Jakarta. The rest of the day at leisure to stretch the legs, grab a drink, or simply relax. **Day 2: Palmwag** We head north into the wild, where landscapes begin to open and the real adventure kicks in. On the way, stop at a traditional Himba village to learn about one of Namibia’s most iconic cultures with red ochre, intricate hairstyles, ancient traditions. Arriving in Palmwag, the scenery turns dramatic: red hills, dry riverbeds, and desert-adapted wildlife territory. In the afternoon, head out on a scenic game drive through one of Namibia’s most untouched concessions. Keep your eyes open for desert elephants, giraffes, or even the elusive black rhino. **Day 3: Swakopmund** Today we follow the raw Atlantic edge of Namibia along the Skeleton Coast, a beautiful stretch of foggy shores, shipwreck stories, and endless horizons. Stop at Cape Cross, home to one of the largest Cape fur seal colonies in the world, their population is about 260 thousand individuals. By afternoon, arrive in Swakopmund, where desert dunes crash into the ocean. Indulge in this gorgeous locality with its beach walks, German inspired cafés, and few adrenaline options. Optional kayaking with seals or skydiving. **Day 4: Namib desert** Leave the coast behind and drive inland toward the legendary Namib — the oldest desert on Earth. Golden light, endless horizons, and star filled skies above. **Day 5: Sossusvlei & Deadvlei** Early wake up call. We drive deep into Sossusvlei to catch sunrise over the towering dunes. Some trained COUNT volunteers work together once a month at RMH (http://www.rmhc-centralohio.org/volunteer.php) as Housewarmers (usually on the 1st Sunday from 1 – 5 PM). Some schedule other shifts at their convenience. You may try this out with less fuss by following a "Fast track" or go through the normal process. Normal process • Complete an online application (http://rmhc-centralohio.org/volunteer/). • Attend orientation in advance. • At orientation you will complete forms agreeing to keep family/patient info private and allowing a background check and tour the facility. • Complete one training shift. Daily shifts are: morning 9 AM - 1 PM, afternoon 1 - 5 PM and evening 5 - 9 PM. • Schedule shifts online using the on the RMH scheduling system (http://www.volgistics.com/ex/portal.dll/?FROM=32895). The Ronald McDonald House (RMH) provides housing and meals for families with sick children. The Columbus RMH is the largest in the world with 137 rooms. COUNT has been volunteering there since May 2014. Housewarmers work with RMH guests to provide a home-like environment - greet, assist with family needs, answer phones, give tours, assist with checkin/checkout, prepare guest rooms after checkout, clean facility, laundry, restock supplies and staff the front desk. RMH Housewarmers volunteer at least one four-hour shift a month. All Housewarmers must complete an application and agree to a background check before they can be full fledged volunteers.
