The forests of Sintra and Cascais hide many beautiful secrets, and it is between the months of May and June that one of them comes to life — the season of the firefly. During these months, forested areas are transformed into a dazzling spectacle, created by fireflies through a biochemical reaction that releases energy in the form of light.
These flashes are a form of communication used by fireflies to attract and find partners of the same species for reproduction.

However, these insects are threatened by the destruction of their habitat, as forests become increasingly degraded. Their future is uncertain, and during our tour we will talk about the importance of restoring their habitat to ensure the survival of these wonderful natural treasures.

Hello everyone, I will provide the meeting location once the booking is confirmed. By confirmed I mean a private message being exchanged between me and you, where I will send the meeting location, else I will consider your booking void.
This is to avoid people booking the event, but then either forgetting about it or not commiting to the tour -- which has happened a lot.

Price: 15€ per adult and 8€ per child

Extra information: For the 23rd of May I already have 19 persons confirmed, and will only accept 6 more until I close the group. All Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays of May are fully booked, except for the 23rd and 29th. If you'd rather go on the 29th there is another event page. These are prices for public groups only, for private groups, please reach out through a private message, but keep in mind the prices will be higher. I'm organizing these tours for corporte groups, schools and universities also.

I'm João, I'm part of a team who leads one of the biggest environmental volunteer programs in Portugal through an environmental NGO, when I'm not out there involving thousands of people into nature restoration initiatives, I take you out on nature tours through the project Venture for Nature, to have you witness the beauty of the natural world, and to raise awareness about the protection of the wilderness.
