It can be confusing to know the difference between who your website is hosted with and who your domain name is registered through. Sometimes they are the same company but they can also be different. Add in who provides your email service at your domain and it can get confusing quickly. We're going to define each one of these, what they do and how to find yours at this month's Meetup. We will also have time for questions about WordPress projects you are working on, so come join us!

Join Kevin Stover of Saturday Drive: The terms “upsell” and “cross sell” get thrown around quite often. Even if you aren’t familiar with those terms, you’ve undoubtedly experienced them. Anytime you’ve purchased an item from Amazon, Walmart.com, or any other big retailer, they’ve tried to get you to buy other stuff. It’s been said that it’s better to find products for your customers that customers for your products. If you already have a group of customers, how do you provide them with more value, and ultimately get a better return? In this session, we’ll talk about some techniques that we’ve used to determine what other products our customers are willing to pay for, and sell new or existing products to our existing customers.

Learn where your traffic is coming from and who they are to better connect with your message and marketing!

What do developers actually do? What do they know? How do they get into development in the first place? Join us as we discuss how WordPress makes it easier to get into development, how the community can help you grow, and what your first steps into development might be. The second half of our meetup will be another LeanCoffee (http://leancoffee.org/) time, a structured but agenda-less meeting type where the attendees of the meeting decide as a group what the most important topics to discuss/cover are for that meeting. We'll take as many topics as our group can can think of that we want to learn about, and then we'll all decide together which ones to discuss (and in what order).

This month: What I Learned While Building A WordPress Business From Scratch (presenter Josiah Goff) From Josiah: One year ago I left my job to start my own WordPress business. I had no plan, no leads, and no idea what in the world I was doing—I just knew I needed to make a change. If you think that sounds crazy, you're right. It was crazy, but it was just crazy enough to work :-) Now I run a successful company helping clients all over the country grow their businesses with their WordPress sites, and I do it in a way that fuels me and feeds my family. But, I didn't get there overnight. I failed a lot and I learned a lot, and I want to share with you some of my best takeaways: - The two questions that changed my life - The biggest mistakes I made starting out (and what to do instead) - The surprising trap of hard work and hustle (and how to avoid it) - How to love what you do (and still get paid for it) Whether you're a freelancer just getting started, an entrepreneur trying to avoid burnout, or a business owner wondering where your passion went, this story is for you.

This month, we'll be wrapping up 2018 and preparing for the new year with "What Your WordPress Website Needs in 2019". It's a great time to think through making sure your (online) house is in order and we will have solid, actionable steps for you to take to prepare for 2019! Since it's the holiday season, or close enough, we would love to have our group bring a holiday dessert or goodie to share! Even if you can't, come anyway!
