Amazing 5 mile walk from Marina Del Rey, Jetty at sunset, paved path beach walk; optional after walk potluck on the marina.

Meet st the free Dock 52 parking lot,, Rick will have on a safety vest 🦺

The 4.5 mile walk is on level trails. Can get cold so dress appropriately. Bring tennis shoes, water, sun screen, sun protection, and a fun spirit. Up and back so option to turn back early.

Come join us for a challenging workout and for meeting new people to do an urban stair hike in the Southern part of Silver Lake, a beautiful part of town with steep hills!
We'll be climbing three multi-set staircases and passing through Silver Lake and Micheltorena Peaks.

LEVEL: Intermediate Plus for speed and length. Extra PLUS for the amount of stairs/steep hills we'll be conquering. We are a friendly group that loves to socialize and encourage newcomers, but please note that moderate++ level of cardio fitness and brisk walking speed are required.

LENGTH: 5.1 miles, 1200 ft gain, (which as a stair hike may be tougher than it sounds!) 13 long staircases up, 5 down + steep hills. +/- 2h

SPEED: Brisk, faster than most moderate hikes, but well below advanced ones. We'll take a short pause to re-group at the top of the stairs and the steepest hills. Bring a phone for navigation just in case you want to leave early.

BRING: Exercise outfit, workout shoes (hiking shoes are not necessary), water and a flashlight (any color), if you have one.

LOCATION: We'll meet at the corner of N. Benton Way and Berkeley Ave. at 6.pm for introductions and take off sharply at 6.05pm. (If you are running a few minutes late you can catch us at corner of Silver Lake Blvd and Scott Pl.) DON'T FULLY TRUST THE NAVIGATION LINK, DEPENDING ON YOUR PHONE AND APP IT MAY BE SLIGHTLY OFF. CHECK THE ACTUAL STREET NAMES WHEN APPROACHING PARKING.

PARKING: Free, unlimited street parking.

RESTROOMS: None, please go before arriving as needed.

PLEASE NO CRASHING! Urban hikes do not work well with large groups. I "overbook" events in anticipation of some last-minute dropouts, so you cannot count on the availability of those spots. The waitlist, if needed, generally clears in order, but members with a good attendance record and a posted picture (LA Hiking Group rule) may get priority.

LIABILITY: The organizer is an uncompensated and untrained volunteer. By joining this event each member accepts full responsibility for knowing their limits, for all injuries, health issues, material losses, assessing all risks and for getting lost. Each member shall make their guests aware of these policies and releases the host from all liability.

🔔 Event Details:
Join us for a steep, scenic hike with a solid workout! This trail is short but intense, gaining over 1,800 feet in under 2 miles. You must be comfortable with steep terrain and have the right gear.
Gear Checklist:

• ✅ Trekking poles (highly recommended)
• ✅ Well-treaded hiking shoes (required)
• 💧 At least 1.5–2 liters of water
• 🍎 Light snacks
• 🧥 Layers for changing weather

We'll take breaks as needed and regroup at scenic spots.

Join us for a fun walk around the beautiful CSUN campus, as we get some steps in while socializing with fellow group members.

Strong winds/rain will cancel the event.

We'll start walking no later than 10 minutes after the event start time.

Total distance round trip: Approximately 4-5 miles (mix of flat and incline/decline but mostly flat)

Meeting Location: We'll be meeting on the corner of Lemarsh and Etiwanda in front of Northridge Recreation Center - 18300 Lemarsh St., Northridge, CA (Google Maps will take you straight there).

Parking: Free street parking (be sure to read the signs)

Guests: Attendees are welcome to bring a guest

Restrooms: Restroom (typically) available at Northridge Recreation Center

I recommend bringing the following:

• First aid kit (for accidental trips, falls, scrapes, etc.)
• Water
• Flashlight
• Comfortable walking shoes
• Jacket (in case it gets chilly)
• Friendly attitude
