This is one of those winter activities that we can never get enough of. It's just everything you can ask for: fun, beautiful and different. Adults love it and kids talk about it for weeks after.

The place we're going to is in Navacerrada but well away from the weekend crowds. It's a gorgeous secret area surrounded by pine trees... A pristine winter wonderland that has managed to stay away from most domingueros.

The activity is not hard, because the snowshoeing route is divided in two parts (before and after lunch & igloo building) The first part is about 1h long and the second about 1 hourse also, just before the sledding time (yeyyy)

It's open to any Children above 4 years old that like to walk and to be in nature (please, do not force it. If they've never liked to walk, they won't start today and they will not have fun).

THE DAY IN A NUTSHELL

• We'll start around 10 am (don't be late, we can't wait!)

• Get the gear on, a little briefing on how to walk with snowshoes and off we go!

• We'll walk for approx 1h to work out the appetite and have some food while we learn how t build an igloo, something very useful if the night ever catches up with us on a winter hike and we want to survive

• After our little snow houses are built we'll have lunch and a hot coffee

• Then we'll put our snowshoes again and walk about another hour

• The rest of the afternoon will be devoted to sledding down the mountain, We'll get back to the bar right in Puerto de Navacerrada, before it gets dark and have a couple of beers before taking the train back to Madrid

HOW TO GET THERE - DO NOT GO BY CAR!!!

Why are we all going by train? Because it avoids: super early waking up, horrible traffic and impossible to find parking space. This is not an exageration, lines up in the morning and down in the evening can be of 3h each way, and theres NO parking. It's nerve wrecking!

Take the 8 am train to Puerto de Navacerrada (It's Line C2 direction Cercedilla, you'll do a transfer there) PLEASE BUY YOUR TICKETS IN ADVANCE
