Lo que hacemos
Come and dance with the friendly Flint Contra Dancers who meet in Flint, Michigan on the first Sunday afternoon of the month September through May to dance to live music with a caller. Contra dancing has similar moves to square dancing and is usually done in a line or a circle with a partner. No partner or experience is necessary. If you can walk, you can Contra dance! Contra dancing has a long history in the US, Canada and Europe. There was Contra dancing in the US before the Declaration of Independence was signed and groups can be found in most areas of the country today. New dancer orientation is provided before each regular dance and dances are routinely walked through and prompted by a caller. All ages are welcome (older children accompanied by an adult). Loose fitting and comfortable clothing are recommended with clean soft soled shoes so we don't slip and slide on or mar our wooden floors.
