  • Coyoacan & Xochimilco Isla de Muñecas /doll island 4hrs boat/trajinera trip

    Lugar por decidir

    66,00 US$

Let´s explore Xochimilco and Isla de Muñecas on a 4 hour boat trip in a traditional trajinera :-).

We will visit the channels of Xochimilco in the South of Mexico City, which are left from what was an extensive lake and canal system that connected most of the settlements of the Valley of Mexico. These canals, along with hand made islands called chinampas, attract tourists and city residents to ride on colorful gondola-like boats called “trajineras” around the 170 km (110 mi) of canals. This canal and chinampa system, as an evidence of the area’s pre-Hispanic past, has made Xochimilco a World Heritage Site.

La Isla de las Muñecas – Island of the Dolls – is an area on the bank on the canals where dolls swing eerily from the trees. Myths abound about the island. Legends say that a young girl drowned there; the man who found her later finding a doll floating where the girl had been. Out of respect, he strung the doll up to a tree, but despite his act of reverence, he felt haunted by the spirit of the girl, and began to hang more and more dolls to please her...

We will take a boat ride on one of the “trajineras” for 4 hours, enjoying the beautiful views, listen to live Mariachi, Norteña or Jarocho music and make new local and international friends. During the boat trip we will have lunch aboard the trajinera.

The price is 1250 Mexican Pesos, and includes private transport for our (small) group, experienced driver, boat trip, lunch and explanations in Spanish and English. Is important you can pay and reserve at least 5 days before the trip, to be able to reserve the right transport for the right number of people.

During the months of June, July and August, 200 hundred hectares of the Santa Clara Forest in the outskirts of a quint village light up by thousands and thousands of fireflies.

    TAXCO
Taxco is a small but charming town (one of the 121 Pueblos Mágicos of México), nestled in an area surrounded by large hills and mountains, erected thanks to the intense exploitation of its silver deposits. CUERNAVACA
Cuernavaca has long been a favorite escape for Mexico City and foreign visitors because of its warm, stable climate and abundant vegetation. The municipality was designated a Forest Protection Zone by President Lázaro Cárdenas in 1937 to protect the aquifers, the vegetation and the quality of life of residents both in Mexico City and locally.[5] The city was nicknamed the "City of Eternal Spring" by Alexander von Humboldt in the 19th century.[6] Aztec emperors had summer residences there, and considering its location of just a 1½-hour drive from Mexico City, today many Mexico City residents maintain homes there.[7] Cuernavaca is also host to a large foreign resident population, including large numbers of students who come to study the Spanish language.

The price is 1350 Mexican Pesos and includes private transport for our small group, experienced driver, certified guide, explanations in Spanish and English, walking tour in Cuernavaca and walking tour in Taxco.
