Do you enjoy singing? Do you like singing or listening to a cappella music (singing without the accompaniment of other instruments)? Then join our Meetup group! This meetup group is for women of all ages interested in possibly singing in an a cappella chorus AND for those who enjoy listening to a cappella music. Musical selections include some traditional barbershop and other a cappella music and genres as well, including songs from Broadway, popular movies, and pop music (both old and new).
Our chorus currently has 90 + members ranging in age from their early 20’s to their 90’s and we participate in competitions, sing-outs, and shows. Our members have a wide background in music; from music teachers to those who can’t read music at all, but love to sing. Being a part of the chorus gives members the opportunity to further their musical education and to interact with others who share their passion. Many members have quickly established great friendships centered around their love of music and singing. We also have several singers who are family members: mothers and daughters and sisters as well.
This meetup group will post rehearsals and public performances, so if you are not interested in singing with us, but would like to hear us sing, join this meetup to keep up to date on where and when we will be performing (and please RSVP to let us know you are coming).
If you are interested in checking us out, please RSVP and come to one of our rehearsals at Orchard United Methodist Church on (most) Tuesday nights at 6: 30pm. Please make sure to refrain from wearing any fragrances at rehearsals as we have several members who are very allergic/sensitive to fragrance. The name of our chorus is Motor City Blend Chorus (MCB) and we are affiliated with Sweet Adelines International, a non-profit music education organization for women. Motor City Blend is the 2023 champions of Border Lakes Region 2 in Sweet Adelines and will compete at the next International Competition. We are under the direction of Master Director LeAnn K.
