- Congress of Gamers Boardgame Convention1150 Carnation Dr, Rockville, MD
If you love our monthly game night, come for a whole Saturday marathon of games! Congress of Gamers has a quarterly convention in Rockville which includes tournaments, an auction, game designers showcasing their creations, and a library of 300 games to borrow for open gaming all day. Games range from complex RPGs like Dungeons and Dragons to classics like Settlers of Catan to card games and lighter fare. They even have a kids' area for young players 6-12 with adult volunteer game leaders. I am planning to attend ALL DAY (9:00 am-9:00 pm), so you're welcome to meet me there if you only want to come for a portion of the day.
REGISTRATION: The convention runs Saturday and Sunday, but I'm only going Saturday. If you pre-register on the website, admission is $20 (or $25 at the door). Each person will be responsible for his or her own registration (or paying the higher fee at the door), and of course you're welcome to attend both days.
FOOD: There is a concession stand which also takes pre-orders for pizza delivery at lunch and dinner. I'm planning to eat pizza for lunch and then pop out for some other takeout later.
CARPOOLING: I have room for 3 passengers, and I'm willing to coordinate additional carpooling from either my house or the Southwest Park and Ride in Catonsville departing at 8:00 am SHARP! Please indicate if you would like to carpool when you RSVP and whether you're willing to drive. Please plan to be gone ALL DAY if you ride with me (leaving the convention at 9:00 pm, plus an 40 minutes back to the Park and Ride).
DETAILS: See the Congress of Gamers Official Website for more information about the tournament schedule, games in the library, and what to expect. It's going to fun!
