We have three meetings in the near future. The first will take place on
Sunday, April 13th, at 1:00 PM, at Caffe Artigiano Centrum building, 332 6th Ave SW. The second will take place on
Saturday, April 26th, at 12:30pm, at Good Earth Cafe,[masked]th Street SW. The third will take place on
Sunday, May 4th, at 12:00pm (Noon), at Yamato Dessert Cafe, 1322 Centre St NE.
These are 8, 21 and 29 days from now.
Please go now and RSVP for these.
Please check the address before you go to the meeting on April 26th. There are many Good Earth Cafes in Calgary, and we have held meetings at a Good Earth before, but it is not this one.
I need to say something about Caffe Artigiano. In some locations, the place is one large room filled with tables, and it is relatively easy to push together tables to make one long table. Caffe Artigiano is not such a place. It would be much easier for me to make tables for 6 to 8 people. However, this means that we will need to learn to split gracefully.
Let me give us an example. Let us say that I have held onto two tables each of which can seat eight people. The first eight people all sit at one table, so we have one table full and one table completely empty. Two more people arrive, and in order to give them a place to sit down, I stand up, and I say, "I need a couple of volunteers to come with us to the other table".
In this case, usually one of two things happen. The first possibility is that no one follows me, and I go and sit by myself at the second empty table while everyone else continues to try and jam themself around the first table. In fact, people will call out
to me saying, "Kichiji, don't sit by yourself, we can jam 14 people around this table that would normally seat 8 even though you've held onto a completely empty table".
The other case is that people say, "oh, we're moving to the other table?", and EVERYONE follows me to the second table, and once again we end up with 14 or so people jammed around the second table while the first table remains empty.
Neither of these is helpful. Please do not do this. Please use BOTH tables. Thank you for your cooperation.
I am looking forward to seeing us all at the meetings!
