IN ORDER TO SIGN UP FOR THIS EVENT YOU MUST DIRECTLY CONTACT JEAN JONES, DIRECTOR OF VOLUNTEER SERVICES, AT THE STEWPOT IN DALLAS AT (214)746-2785 ext. 320. VOLUNTEERS MUST SIGN UP NO LATER THAN DECEMBER 1ST
On Saturday, Dec 15th the Stewpot is having their annual Christmas distribution. The majority of the families they work with for this distribution are Hispanic and many speak limited English. Families come in to pick up groceries from the Stewpot Pantry. They will receive mostly canned goods and get a small class/orientation on the health benefits of one of their food items. For example, a volunteer would talk about the health benefits of the bag of carrots a family is receiving. The families also get to go to the Stewpot Closet and pick up one outfit per family member.
- Volunteers are needed to distribute the food bags in the pantry, explain the food items, help carry groceries to the families cars, and distribute clothing items in the Closet.
- Volunteers must be there from 8am - 12pm. The Stewpot is not able to do shortened shifts. It's all or nothing. - Kids ages 14 or older can volunteer. But they must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
- The Stewpot is looking for 2 groups of 10 volunteers to assist on Dec 15th. Jean Jones asked that I have people contact her directly to sign up no later than Dec 1. That way if she needs more volunteers, she can advertise the opportunity with local churches or other organizations.
