The Beautiful Struggle: A Father, Two Sons, and an Unlikely Road to Manhood by Ta-Nehisi Coates.

Ta-Nehisi Coates is a senior editor at The Atlantic, where he writes about culture, politics, and social issues. This memoir recounts his childhood in West Baltimore and his relationship with his father, Paul Coates, a Vietnam vet and Black Panther, an old-school disciplinarian and new-age believer in free love, an autodidact who launched a publishing company in his basement dedicated to telling the true history of African civilization.
