EXPERTALKS: July 2012 - Build using Gradle

TOPIC:

For quite a long time now, Build Automation on projects has been synonymous with 2 tools: Ant andMaven. While both tools are pretty effective & widely used, they have their share of shortcomings.

Gradle brings in the much needed evolution in build automation.

Gradle combines the strengths of Maven and Ant resulting in a more effective way to build. Needless to say, it is the build tool of choice for us here at Equal Experts.

In EXPERTALKS - July, we will introduce you to Gradle, its key features & advantages.

We will also cover related topics like Dependency Management basics; Multi-project builds andIntegration of Ant Tasks with Gradle.

In line with the EXPERTALKS tradition, all the above topics will be covered through a hands-on workshop where participants will build a simple Java project using Gradle. So don't forget to bring your laptops !!!

PRESENTERS:

Tejaswita Takawale and Chinmay Naik

PRE-REQUISITES:

For the workshop, interested participants can bring their laptops with Eclipse & JDK 5 / upwards installed. We will provide Gradle installation at the event. Participants need to have sound understanding of Java and build automation concepts.

Due to some personal work I had to leave in the middle of the retro and I could not exchange contact details with few nice people with whom I interacted during the session.. Please ping me here so that we can catch some time.
