What we’re about
Explore photography with fellow shutterbugs! Immerse yourself with people who enjoy shooting at great locations throughout Northern California. Every meetup is designed to challenge us as photographers; to discover new techniques, swap tips and ideas, compare equipment and share images. And we have fun doing it!
Anyone with an interest in photography is welcome, whether you are a beginner, a serious amateur, or a professional. If you love to shoot photographs and/or want to find out what is going on in the world of photography, then please join us on one of our scheduled events.
Exploring Photography is sponsored by the Sierra Camera Club in Sacramento California. A long-standing camera club that has been meeting regularly since 1936. You can visit the Sierra Camera Club website here. Check out their calendar and drop in for one of their two monthly meetings. Visitors of all photography levels and interest levels are always welcome!

See all- Springtime on North Table MountainNorth Table Mountain Ecological Reserve, Oroville, CA
It's been a while photo friends. Let's spend a few hours wandering the stunning flower-carpeted hills of North Table Mountain in Oroville. If you've never experienced this location in Spring, it is a must do. A magical place where wildflowers, creeks, waterfalls, chorus frogs and cows are found in the same landscape, creating a beautiful and unique experience. This is a very popular destination in April and gets very crowded. I'm scheduling this for a Tuesday hoping to avoid the worst of the crowds.
Let's meet under the big oak tree just inside the fenced area at 2pm.
- Everyone will need a lands pass for the day ($5.66). You can purchase
yours here. Please don't purchase until just before the event in case we need to change the event date due to weather or conditions. - Wear good sturdy water resistant shoes. We'll be getting muddy.
- A walking stick may be helpful.
- Bring water and something to snack on like trail mix or powerbars.
- Less equipment is better. We'll be walking on lava rock and traversing
streams. - If you'd like to bring a blanket or chairs and some wine and cheese for a sunset toast at the end of the day under the oak tree, please do. It's a nice way to end the day.
The light will improve as the day goes on. Golden hour starts at 6:30pm.
