Re: [skeptics-182] Truth Decay - Something to Think About

Is this an example of absolute truth...

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/34937429/ns/us_news-military/

It's fitting, given that the dominant themes in the bible revolve around death and destruction.? The spokesman for this scope company feels the need to protect our soldiers with prayer...but I have a better idea...BRING THEM HOME.

$66M in revenue from these scopes.? If we pretend they're making 30% margin, that's $22M in profits.? I hope they practice what they preach and give some of that money to Haiti!!? Doubt it.

John:
I do occasionally doubt and express them. My hope is that I give you (and me)
something to think about and truly question our skepticism/doubts/fears/possibilities/options/hopes/dreams
rather than just commiserate in them. Hey, I really hadn't thought that this
group likes being skeptical. I thought you were searchers. Am I wrong? Do you
choose to remain in your skepticism even if confronted with answers and truth.
If you are confronted with truth do you intentionally develop smoke screens that
prevent you from stopping to consider? If you saw the truth and believed for the
first time would even you choose to cling to your skepticism? I hope not. But it
is possible I have entered a bar where the only hope is another beer that
(hopefully) will dull the senses and the reality of the hopelessness. I
generally don't ask this question of westerners, but where is your hope? Is it
in continued non-hope? Do skeptics get together and worship hopelessness? I beg
your forgiveness as I thought skeptics were skeptical of the truth and desired
and wanted clarity but perhaps it is not answers or clarity or hope you want but
insanity - following the same steps expecting to get something different. I
hope even commiserating skeptics can extend forgiveness to a Christian who
believes he has found bread and water and wants to share it.
