Concord Market to Great Meadows Tuesday May 12 - 10 AM To 1 PM
Details
Great Meadows National Wildlife Refuge is roughly 85% composed of valuable freshwater wetlands, alongside the Sudbury and Concord Rivers.
Historically, refuge lands were primarily inhabited by many groups of Indigenous peoples. In 1944, a local hunter donated over 200 acres to U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, establishing the refuge's Concord unit. The Sudbury unit was established later as the Service began buying additional land in the area to preserve vulnerable freshwater wetlands along the river.
Tuesday is forecast to be around 60 degrees and sunny.
Walk the Reformatory Branch Trail to Great Meadows Wildlife Refuge and back for a total of 4.8 miles.
The trail is flat and well-maintained.
Park and meet in the Concord Market parking lot at 77 Lowell Rd, Concord, MA.
