Imagine 1,200 middle schoolers from various schools in L.A. County (including Catalina). It's morning. They are excited. It's race day.
The organization I work for runs a 10-week county-wide, cross-country program throughout L.A. County. The program is free to all schools and all participants. F-R-E-E, Free. At the end of the 10-week period, we have a culminating 2K, in which we bus all the participants. We want to make our 27th year as successful as the first 26. But we need help.
We need help with the following:
-Finish line chute
-Post-race water, t-shirt, and snack (right after they go through the chute)
-Along the course to get assistance if runners twist their ankles or any other injury
The race will be at Kenneth Hahn Park, off La Cienega (between Rodeo and Slauson). There will be signs to the exact meeting place. Volunteers need to arrive by 8 am and will be done no later than noon. It's a very, very quick race. I promise that you will love it and feel all warm and fuzzy afterwards.
AFTER the race, brunch in Downtown Culver City! Possible spots include Casino Bakery (Argentine), Rush Street, or Culver Hotel. By the way, starting 11/20 there is going to be an ice skating rink in Downtown Culver City, adjacent to Culver Hotel.
Volunteer, food, fun!
