Join us and make some amazing new friends and see them again at events and privately if that works out! We share a variety of gatherings such as camping, dance parties with live music, kayaking, a variety of walks, outdoor concerts, picnics at our beautiful coast and bayside, wine tasting, urban and trail hikes, potlucks, cultural events, casino visits, go-cart racing, boating, happy hours, game nights, limo tours, movies and volunteering in our beautiful community.  Our events typically range in attendance of 2 to 160 members throughout the year, depending on the activity and EVERYONE in our private group is welcomed to join in on the fun!

Guidelines for joining

  1. In order to be a member you must have a recognizable face photo of YOU, no dark lenses please.
  2. Fill out the member questionnaire so that we can get to know a little bit about you.
  3. For privacy please use your first name and include the initial(s) of your last name if your name is common.
  4. Couples are welcomed however do not count as 1 member, each must sign up as we can't always guarantee 2 spots at any event and we usually don't allow guests.
  5. You must be residing in San Diego County and it should be listed on your profile as your main residence

Remaining a member

If you RSVP and do not show up for that event you are considered a "no show" and you will be removed from our group without notification.  To avoid being removed contact the event host directly via a Meetup message within 24 hours after the event to acknowledge that you forgot to update your RSVP. At that time the Event Host will change your RSVP to “did not attend” and it will go into your attendance /RSVP member record.

If you show up for an event and have not RSVP'd that Event Host/Group Organizer will remove you as a member. Crashers are not welcomed unless it is an official "Crashers Only" event.

No recruiting or soliciting to members for any reason, this includes Event hosts, Organizers from other Meetup groups chatting about their upcoming events, we won't do that in your group so don't do it in ours. We don't promote personal business ventures, politics, or religion, nor are we a dating service. If you violate these rules, you will be removed at any time and without notice.

San Diegans over 50

San Diego, CA

San Diegans over 50 is all about singles and couples safely socializing around the Western part of San Diego County.  Our meetup began with a small group of single women friends in Pacific Beach, then expanded to singles organized by a male Navy chief, who expanded membership to both men and women. Two more organizers expanded us to include a broader range of San Diego County territory, which spanned La Mesa on the East to Del Mar on the North and all around the City of San Diego. I am the 5th organizer and am expanding our membership to include socially active singles, widowed, couples, and married adults over 50 who need to get out and socialize.

The Covid-19 Pandemic has temporarily stopped our social life. But over time, we have met in restaurants and night clubs for socializing, gone dancing, attended music performances, and gone on walks through older communities throughout San Diego County. Over the coming months, we will return to those activities as more of us get vaccinated and feel safe. It is my hope that by Fall of 2021, we will return to normal.

When you apply for membership, please post a portrait so we can recognize you at our meetups. And for your name, please use your first name followed by an single letter; for example, if your name is Joe and your last name is Smith, then you could post your name as Joe S. Or, if you wish to remain mysterious, Joe X. We want to keep you safe.

The reason we collect membership dues is to pay to use this platform to announce meetups. The organizer (me) has to pay at least $100 every year. I have to paid the day I accepted ownership as Organizer. To share in this burden, I ask each of you to pay $5.00 dues to remain a member.  If the payment is an issue, put $5.00 in an envelope, seal the flap, write your name on the outside of the envelope, and hand it to me.

Thank you all for hanging in there during Covid and welcome!

Your Organizer,

Ron May

I Wanted To Eat There, Just Not Alone! (SD 20's & 30's)

San Diego, CA

Tired of going out to eat by yourself? New to San Diego? From San Diego and looking for some new friends? You’ve come to the right place! If you are a 20 or 30-something and looking for a solid group of fellow foodies, sign up! This group specializes in dining and events with food/drinks.

Other groups say they are “different” but for an accurate answer ask our lovely members! This is by far the most well-connected, organic group on this app. After most events, we usually go for drinks elsewhere. I can honestly say that our members are some of my closest friends!

All meetups are in-person so attendees must feel comfortable enough to do so. Stay safe and, of course, enjoy.

This group was made with the intention to make long lasting memories and form a solid group of friends. It is encouraged to break out into sub groups if you do find shared interests. If this appeals to you, please exchange social media account information with one another.

If you would like to host an event please message the organizer directly and provide a short description as to what ideas you may have.

DISCLAIMER: Please note that this is a private group so a photo and a brief questionnaire are required to join. Must be between 21-39 years of age to join. Group organizer(s) reserve the right to add or remove members at any time and for any reason. Missed RSVPs and unacceptable conduct may result in dismissal. By submitting for and maintaining group membership, you agree to this disclaimer and you agree to release and hold harmless the Organizer, all Event Hosts and fellow members of any and all liability. During the pandemic please note that if you are not comfortable in situations that may include lack of social distancing, members/guests not wearing masks, do not attend in-person events until you feel safe to do so. If you are not feeling well and have upper respiratory symptoms DO NOT attend events. All events are food-related and you will need to remove your mask in order to eat or drink, more than likely less than 6’ apart.

Active Lifestyle NERDS!

San Diego, CA

Greetings! Welcome to Active Lifestyle Nerds (ALN), the friendliest Meetup group in San Diego. We strive towards building a safe and social community of active nerds. We understand how difficult it is for a nerd to get out of their home and meet new people. We understand that many of you out there don’t even consider yourselves nerds, because the word “nerd” still has negative connotations. We are trying to change that. ALN bridges that gap and creates a welcoming environment, where we can all bask in our nerd glory – judgement free. Let’s face it, the average person in a bar, club, or other common area where people socialize, often lacks the level of nerdism needed to have a good Fire Fly conversation or a discussion of “who shot first” (it was definitely Han Solo, folks). Our organization has 20 coordinators, allowing for a multitude of diverse social events. We offer board game nights, brewery and wine tastings, ultimate Frisbee and kickball, book clubs, hiking, bar hopping, networking, movie outings, and much more. It is here that nerds can make friends, form bonds, and thrive in a community that accepts them for who they are. For who you are. Our group was founded in 2012, and have grown since then into a family over 7000 strong!

Come have new adventures and meet new friends at ALN!

Stay active, stay nerdy.

San Diego Creative Socials (Ages 20's - 40's)

San Diego, CA

You don't have to go out alone anymore. Join our group of friends and come party with us.

Come meet other professionals in San Diego (ages 20's - 40's) that share the same interests! Attend our events to dance, socialize, have fun and make great new friendships along the way!

Today's way of living makes it difficult for professionals to expand their social circles and meet others. We offer a convenient, non-threatening way to connect with other people who share similar interests and live in San Diego. Our events are basically social get-togethers where everyone attending is a professional.

San Diego Creative Socials raises the bar for new and exciting events!

We don't try to find a party because WE MAKE THE PARTY!

We are leaders, not followers, that's why we are - and always will be #1 in San Diego!

Our group has a "0 tolerance" for aggressive and/or abusive behavior. Please be respectful of others.

We require members to attend two events per year to maintain membership.

Join our friendly group and start having fun today!

You must have a picture of yourself in your profile to join. All profile questions MUST be answered. Your profile must be real and not be anything other than a local person wishing to meet other professionals. No spamming or promoting any other events, politics, religion, or causes are allowed. You will be removed, reported, and banned.

We also reserve the right to refuse membership to other Meetup Organizers, Event Organizers, Assistant Organizers, and the like, as we see fit. We don't have anything against other groups, but we don't like it when some of them join our group to copy our events and ideas, or come to our events to solicit our members to join their group.

Our group has a "0 tolerance" for aggressive and/or abusive behavior. Please be respectful of others.

Outdoor Parks + Online Fun & Connections, socially distanced

San Diego, CA

Love being outdoors, but don't always feel like hiking, biking, and crossfit? We play lower energy lawn games and chat at lovely Balboa or Mission Hills park (and some others). Lower energy, but high vibe. Online we've been enjoying peer-led discussions or practice groups, frequently with mindful topics like meditation and spirituality, but also various other topics (*see our past event topics below). We've also been playing a lot of Pictionary on Zoom lately, but if you want to host or co-host other games, contact organizer. All events occur with the help of volunteer co-hosts - That means people like You. :-) Please assist at least one time for a couple of hours helping run a park game, or chatting a bit with new comers, or helping with a discussion. Outdoor events will be *socially distanced* for now. You can take your mask off when outdoors and distanced.

*Some recent discussion topics have been: Netflix's "Headspace" series on meditation, The Social Dilemma documentary on the pitfalls of social media, The Octopus Teacher, Ram Dass/ other spiritual teachers, a basic astronomy video discussion, the Loneliness Epidemic, "Share a story about an item in your house" (Show and Tell), and "Life and Death of the Grizzly man" (Timothy Treadwell).

***For now, you agree to stay six feet apart by your RSVP to in-person events.*** Participate at your own risk. Organizer is not liable for your safety nor for the member participants.

Enjoy your first event or two free. If you continue to come and enjoy events, please throw in a dollar per month to help cover: Meetup group fees charged to the Organizer ($16/month) + Zoom fees ($15 per month), etc. Thanks!
