There is nothing better than people coming together for the sheer joy of...well, having fun! Fun is what futbol is all about. Yes, it's competitive and it's engaging! But, above all, its simply fun! That is why I would like to invite people like you, who share my love of the game, to come join us. Our games are usually held on weekdays and weekends. Keep an eye on the meetup site for details.

The group is entirely co-ed and all skill levels are invited. We do have a few basic ground rules that help to keep our games fun and safe. They're listed below. You'll need to read them and agree to follow them at all times in order to join our. I invite you to come join us.

We only ask for a small $10 per year contribution to help cover the cost of goals & other equipment.

GROUP RULES <br>PLEASANTON PICKUP SOCCER GROUP

Each player, whether brand new or fairly seasoned, should know what to expect when he/she comes to our games. For that to happen, each player has to know the group rules. So, take a minute to read through the rules below.

RSVP ASAP

It’s a must to play. Your RSVP reserves your spot on the field for you and your guest(s), but only if you arrive on time. Spots are often limited by a healthy turnout for each game. So, if you can’t make it, be sure to change your RSVP ASAP so that a player waiting for an open spot gets a chance to play. If you RSVP, but show up more than 20 minutes after the posted game time, you may not be able to play (see below).

Guests

You can bring up to 2 guests to a game (Except some weekday games, which are in high demand). A guest can try out our group & see if they like us. If the guest wants to come to game 2+, he/she probably likes us. He/she will need to sign up for our group & RSVP to come to game 2+.

RSVP Cap

This is the maximum number of players allowed to RSVP to a game. The cap is set to keep the games fun for everyone by avoiding over-crowded fields.

Waiting List

Players trying to RSVP for a game that is already full will enter a waiting list. When a spot opens up, you will be automatically RSVP’d to the game. However, if you’d like to bring a guest, you will be automatically RSVP’d only when enough spots open up for you and your guest(s).

Wait-listed players and others who did not RSVP may also join our games IF players who did RSVP do not show up within 20 minutes of the posted game time.

Game Start Time

The posted game time is the intended arrival time, not the game-start time. We allow 15-20 minutes for people to arrive, stretch, lace up, and get ready to play. Sometimes, it takes a little longer. But, we try to get started as early as possible. If the game is scheduled for 8:00pm, you should aim to be on the field and ready to play by 8:15pm. We pick teams 20 minutes after the posted game time.

When is a player considered to be late?

If you are not on the field and ready to play (not getting ready to play) within 20 minutes of the posted game time, you are late.

Late-Arrival Policy

If you are late, you are not guaranteed to be able to play, regardless of whether or not you RSVP'd. When we start picking teams, we will choose from the players who are on the field and ready to play.

If you show up 20+ minutes after the posted start time, YOU CAN ONLY PLAY in the 2nd half of the game IF: (1) you do 30 pushups AND 30 squats upon arrival WHILE counting off out loud for everyone to hear; (2) you're willing to wait until half time to jump in; (3) the game has not reached the maximum players permitted. If you half-ass the pushups/squats (i.e. do less than 30 each or do not do complete ones), the group assistant organizers and I will interpret that to be disrespectful of the group rules and fellow players, which will be grounds for removal from the group, permanently.

No Shows

If you RSVP to a game but don’t show up, someone on the waitlist that wanted to play may not be able to because you did not hand over your spot. If you RSVP but later find out that you’re not able to come, please change your RSVP so that someone else gets a chance to play.

Players that do not show to a game after RSVPing will be warned on the first incident. But, we will remove players who repeatedly no-show. It's up to the Organizer's discretion to determine what constitutes as "repeated."

Attire & Equipment

All players are required to wear appropriate footwear and clothing for field sports. Each player should bring a light and dark shirt to every game (so we can easily break up into teams). Soccer cleats & shin guards are strongly recommended because they help to prevent injury. But, they are not required.

Good Sportsmanship

This group was formed for four main reasons:

To unite people in the enjoyment of the beautiful game of soccer, or fútbol, as you like;

To socialize, make new friends, and enjoy each other's company;

To get some exercise while having fun at the same time; &

To give players of all skill levels a safe and friendly environment to play in.

We can only accomplish our group purpose if everyone practices good sportsmanship at all times during our games. It’s a must. That means:

Welcoming and getting to know other players;

Helping with field setup and breakdown;

Passing the ball often (& not just to friends or people you’ve played with before);

Volunteering to play goal-keeper rather than waiting for someone to ask;

No aggressive behavior, negative comments about other players, whining, or excessive arguing over past plays; &

No dangerous plays, such as slide tackles, body checks, high kicks, & flying kicks or headers. No play, no matter how great, is worth the risk of hurting someone.

Our group is not about competitive league play. It’s about meeting new people, making new friends, enjoying a great game, and above all, having fun!

If you feel someone is treating you poorly or making you feel unwelcome on the field, please speak with an organizer, and we'll get it sorted out. We want all players to feel welcome and safe in our group.

Communication

E-mail is the primary way that we communicate with the group. So, all members must register a valid e-mail with Meetup.com. Players cannot effectively participate in the group, and they will be removed.

When discussing specific games, we often communicate through Meetup comments. So, be sure to check those out as well. For those of you with a smartphone, we recommend that you download the Meetup app. It’s free, and it will notify you when new comments and game changes are posted.

Inactivity

Inactive players are periodically removed from our roster. Any player who does not attend at least 1 game within 3 months is considered inactive. If you are removed due to inactivity, you can always re-apply to the group when you plan to become active again.

Removal Policy

If you get removed from the group for any reason, you may apply to re-join, but approval is not guaranteed. A second removal is likely to be permanent. If you are banned, you will not be allowed to re-join the group under any circumstances.

Enforcement Of Rules

The group organizers reserve the right to take any and all reasonable steps necessary to ensure that the above rules are respected by all group members in their broadest sense. All members are required to agree to the rules upon registration, and any member who fails to follow them may be removed from the group. Honestly, most of this stuff is common sense. We're not out to give anybody a hard time. We just want to make the group as enjoyable as possible for everyone. The rules help us do that, so please respect them.

Risk of Injury

Like most sports, playing futbol/soccer comes with the risk of serious injury. By agreeing to the above rules and participating in your games/events, you understand that there is a risk of injury to you, possibly through no fault of your own. By participating in our games/events you understand and agree that you may be seriously injured during our games/events.

You are welcome to join us if you are an Intermediate+ golfer. Here are some expectations:

- Familiarity with basic rules of golf and golf etiquette, particularly the practice of honoring a good pace of play;

- Respect for the game and our members;

- Adherence to our policies, including showing up for events on time or earlier if requested.

Whether you participate in our golf outings or our non-golf social events, you are responsible for any damages or injuries you cause to property or other persons. You are participating at NCGC events at your own risk, and neither the Organizer nor the Event Organizers will be liable for damages or injuries caused by any of our members during our meetups or travel to and from our meetups. NCGC is also not liable for any injuries inflicted upon it members or damages done to members' properties or loss of properties (including golf equipment, transportation, etc.) during events and travel to and from our meetups.

Also, unless you are already a member of our Beginners group, you must use your real name or initials and a recent photo of yourself when signing up. If you are not comfortable with this policy or any of our other policies, this is not the group for you.

OUR GOALS AND ACTIVITIES

Let’s play our part in promoting and practicing the industry’s goal of finishing a round in about 4.5 hours.

For over two years, we have been providing exceptional golf experience to players of all ages, and our group keeps getting better and better. We will continue to play 18-hole courses all over the Bay Area and sometimes beyond.

We oftentimes hang out after the round for a meal or a drink. This is optional, so don't feel obligated to stick around if your plans do not permit it.

We are also open to suggestions for playing various courses in the Bay Area. If there is a course you would like to play, let one of the Event Organizers know and we will look to getting it on the calendar.

FEES

Annual NON-REFUNDABLE fee: $11.36

If a member is removed from our group, this fee will not be refunded.

ATTENDANCE and RSVPs

Our attendance policy is strict. This is a requirement as we reserve tee times up to two weeks in advance, and we are required to fill those tee times. Golf courses do not like last minute cancellations as they make their money by having full foursomes.

When you receive notifications of scheduled meetups, it is not necessary to reply "No" if you are not attending an event. You have the option to click on "Yes" or "No," but you don't have to; you can simply delete the email without replying. Of course, if you RSVP "Yes" then your plans change, you must update your RSVP to "No."

Do not sign up for a meetup if there's a chance that you might have to cancel at the last minute. It's better for you to sign up at the last minute than to cancel at the last minute.

* Although one no-show may result in the removal from our group, the first no-show may only be given a warning, depending on the circumstances. 

 * Last-minute cancellations are frowned upon. A last-minute cancel is if you cancel your RSVP after the RSVP deadline or after an Event Organizer has posted the group assignments, which might be a day or two before the RSVP deadline.

* A combination of a no-show and last-minute cancellation will also result in the removal from our group.

* Last-minute cancellations will be accepted from our "regular" members who have a good attendance record—until it starts to become a habit.

Modesto Fun, Fitness, and Adventures

Thank you to everyone who participated in Modesto Women's Fun & Fitness in 2020! 

For 2021, I am changing the name and focus of the group. While it will still be about fun and fitness, it will also be about new adventures and experiences. The group will also be open to women AND men. These activities will incorporate all three of those things--Fun, Fitness, and Adventure. I plan to research and schedule lots of fun outdoor activities and will welcome anyone's ideas going forward.


Group Changes for 2021:

Another change will be that members will now need to introduce and say a little bit about themselves upon joining. If you are already a member, please go in and answer these questions about yourself so that I and other group members can learn about you! In addition, while joining the group is free, in order to participate in future activities there will be yearly membership dues of $10 per person (a small price to pay for fun and meeting new people) in order to offset the cost of organizing the group. Additionally, I will be requiring everyone who joins to have a clear, recognizable photo of THEMSELVES in order to be a member. This is for several reasons, but the main ones are so I know what you look like when you join an event and can account for everyone that signed up, and most importantly, for all group members safety and security. If you join without posting a photo or use a one of a pet or one of your kids instead (not that we don't want to see them too!), I will kindly ask that you post a photo of YOU within seven days. If one is not posted by the deadline, you will be removed from the group. I will continue to look for free and low-cost activities, however, if there is a cost involved this will be posted on the event information, so please be sure to read it carefully and follow the instructions.

I look forward to meeting more of you in the coming year, experiencing new and enjoyable activities, and once COVID starts to settle down, participating in both indoor and outdoor activities. Safety precautions to decrease the likelihood of contracting the virus will always be of utmost importance!

I am looking to start up a casual pick up game here in the East Bay with some like minded people. To see if you are interested, let me introduce myself...

About me:

I was born and raised in Germany and played soccer from the age of 3 all the way through high school and then casually into my late 20's.

Now in my mid-30's and many pounds heavier, I am far from peak conditioning but would like to start casually playing soccer again on the weekends.

Ideally I would like to play either Saturday or Sunday mornings for about 2 hours in the San Leandro/Castro Valley/Hayward area at a location we can all agree on. I can provide the nets and cones as well.

EVERYBODY is welcome, but if you are a pro player and expect an ultra competitive setting this may not be for you.

I would love to build a little community of like minded soccer fans from around the world to spend a few hours with each week kicking the ball around!

RULES:

Here are a few rules to follow when deciding to join us for a friendly pick-up game. most of these are pretty "common sense" but I still think it is a good idea to lay them out so everyone knows what to expect (Please note that breaking these rules will eventually result in a ban from this group):

1) "The Golden Rule": We are all here to have fun, get a little exercise in and walk away happy and most importantly healthy. Slide tackling/Body Checking is ABSOLUTELY NOT permitted ANYTIME and doing so will result in a warning as well as a free kick for the other team. 

2) "Everybody's Game" : This is a MeetUp group for EVERYONE who would like to come and play. Young and old, male or female, skilled or brand new to the game of soccer. Please treat it as such. If you are a skilled player with lots of experience, try to involve the players who may be new to the game as good as you can.

3) "Foul Language" : We are all adults in this group and I sure have a potty mouth at times. Just a few things to keep in mind though. Cursing or directing foul language at another player is NOT TOLERATED and will result in a warning. If the game angers you to the point where you have to direct foul language at another player, perhaps this is not the meetup for you.

4)"Goalies" : Most people don't like to play goalie but if we all share the duty of playing goalie, it becomes less of a hassle for everyone. Please volunteer to play goalie rather than having to be asked to.

Tennis Doubles USTA4-4.5 (only) - Sunnyvale

We are USTA 4-4.5 players that play competitive doubles (not singles) matches in Sunnyvale area (only in Sunnyvale area).

This group is not for beginners.

We limit the group size to 50 active players. If you apply and accepted we assume you will be active. 

We also monitor the play level of accepted players and excuse those that don't fit the group to ensure matches are competitive.

When you apply, please provide enough information to clearly "prove" that you are an ACTIVE, Computer   Rated (NOT self rated) USTA 4-4.5 doubles player. We often drill down to this question as part of the acceptance procedure. In cases we are not sure, we allow "audition"/tryout session of couple of minutes before we accept a player. If accepted then this player could RSVP to future sessions.

The Play Model: We introduce sessions and players RSVP to them. Once a session is filled with 4 players we close the session and others could RSVP as standby. We do not rotate. only 4 players play per session.

The RSVP model: The sessions are open for RSVP exactly 7 days before the actual session at noon. You can sign-in as standby. If i see that there are 2-3 standbys then i open a new session. 

The Payment Model: We charge $1 per session played to cover the meetup.com expense.

-You pay $1 per actual session played. A session is 7-9AM or 9-11AM.
-After 5 sessions you pay $5 cash. Self-administration/honor system model.
-Just deposit the $5 bill into my front tennis bag when we see each other.
-It is not an exact model and it would be ok if I collect less than the total. Toward the end of the year I will determine if I need to stop collection for that year if we exceed the $120/year.
-You may pay forward if you wish. But you own the math.
-No meetup.com money xfer; no checks; no paypal. Just cash.

Current popular slots are Sat/Sun 7-9, 9-11AM.

We only play in Sunnyvale. We only play doubles.

We welcome ladies at this level.

San Ramon Indoor Soccer Group

Game is recommended for intermediate to advanced skill players.

The cost will be $10-12 a game, depending on the number of players. The fee is used to pay for the facility rental ($150 per hour) and any remaining funds go toward Meetup fees and equipment (balls, pinnies, etc.) Everyone will be provided a freshly washed pinny before each game.

Please Venmo @JamesJones two nights before the game. Those who pay sooner than later, including those on the waitlist, will be moved onto the roster, potentially knocking people off the “going” list if you haven’t paid yet.

Players are expected to be ready on the field immediately at the start of the game. We have the field for 20 minutes before the game for time to warm up.

No-shows will be removed from the group with no refund. No shin guards are required. Turf shoes (with the small rubber nubs) or indoor flats are acceptable.

**No sliding whatsoever and no FG cleats are allowed on the indoor turf**

There is no formal halftime or water break. If you would like a quick break, you may take your own. Goal keepers will rotate every 7-8 minutes so that everyone plays at some point.

A waiver will be required for the facility, which I will send you a link for upon signing up for a game.

By joining and being a member of this group you acknowledge that your participation in any event is voluntary. You agree to assume all the risks and responsibilities surrounding such participation and do hereby fully and forever waive, release and discharge the organizer and their respective organizers (collectively, the “Releasees”) from any and all liabilities, demands, claims, damages, losses, costs (including attorneys’ fees), actions and causes of action (known or unknown) arising out of or related in any way with the undersigned’s participation in indoor or outdoor soccer events or presence at any events at any time, including, but not limited to, any claim whatsoever on account of first aid or service rendered to the undersigned during events. This release is intended to discharge in advance the Releasees and all other parties and properties related with events from liability to the full extent allowable under applicable laws, EVEN THOUGH LIABILITY MAY ARISE OUT OF NEGLIGENCE OR CARELESSNESS ON THE PART OF THE PERSONS OR ENTITIES MENTIONED ABOVE.
