PLEASANTON PICKUP SOCCER GROUP

Pleasanton, CA

PLEASANTON PICKUP SOCCER GROUP

Welcome to our pickup futbol group!

There is nothing better than people coming together for the sheer joy of...well, having fun! Fun is what futbol is all about. Yes, it's competitive and it's engaging! But, above all, its simply fun! That is why I would like to invite people like you, who share my love of the game, to come join us. Our games are usually held on weekdays and weekends. Keep an eye on the meetup site for details.

The group is entirely co-ed and all skill levels are invited. We do have a few basic ground rules that help to keep our games fun and safe. They're listed below. You'll need to read them and agree to follow them at all times in order to join our. I invite you to come join us.

We only ask for a small $10 per year contribution to help cover the cost of goals & other equipment.

GROUP RULES <br>PLEASANTON PICKUP SOCCER GROUP

Each player, whether brand new or fairly seasoned, should know what to expect when he/she comes to our games. For that to happen, each player has to know the group rules. So, take a minute to read through the rules below.

RSVP ASAP

It’s a must to play. Your RSVP reserves your spot on the field for you and your guest(s), but only if you arrive on time. Spots are often limited by a healthy turnout for each game. So, if you can’t make it, be sure to change your RSVP ASAP so that a player waiting for an open spot gets a chance to play. If you RSVP, but show up more than 20 minutes after the posted game time, you may not be able to play (see below).

Guests

You can bring up to 2 guests to a game (Except some weekday games, which are in high demand). A guest can try out our group & see if they like us. If the guest wants to come to game 2+, he/she probably likes us. He/she will need to sign up for our group & RSVP to come to game 2+.

RSVP Cap

This is the maximum number of players allowed to RSVP to a game. The cap is set to keep the games fun for everyone by avoiding over-crowded fields.

Waiting List

Players trying to RSVP for a game that is already full will enter a waiting list. When a spot opens up, you will be automatically RSVP’d to the game. However, if you’d like to bring a guest, you will be automatically RSVP’d only when enough spots open up for you and your guest(s).

Wait-listed players and others who did not RSVP may also join our games IF players who did RSVP do not show up within 20 minutes of the posted game time.

Game Start Time

The posted game time is the intended arrival time, not the game-start time. We allow 15-20 minutes for people to arrive, stretch, lace up, and get ready to play. Sometimes, it takes a little longer. But, we try to get started as early as possible. If the game is scheduled for 8:00pm, you should aim to be on the field and ready to play by 8:15pm. We pick teams 20 minutes after the posted game time.

When is a player considered to be late?

If you are not on the field and ready to play (not getting ready to play) within 20 minutes of the posted game time, you are late.

Late-Arrival Policy

If you are late, you are not guaranteed to be able to play, regardless of whether or not you RSVP'd. When we start picking teams, we will choose from the players who are on the field and ready to play.

If you show up 20+ minutes after the posted start time, YOU CAN ONLY PLAY in the 2nd half of the game IF: (1) you do 30 pushups AND 30 squats upon arrival WHILE counting off out loud for everyone to hear; (2) you're willing to wait until half time to jump in; (3) the game has not reached the maximum players permitted. If you half-ass the pushups/squats (i.e. do less than 30 each or do not do complete ones), the group assistant organizers and I will interpret that to be disrespectful of the group rules and fellow players, which will be grounds for removal from the group, permanently.

No Shows

If you RSVP to a game but don’t show up, someone on the waitlist that wanted to play may not be able to because you did not hand over your spot. If you RSVP but later find out that you’re not able to come, please change your RSVP so that someone else gets a chance to play.

Players that do not show to a game after RSVPing will be warned on the first incident. But, we will remove players who repeatedly no-show. It's up to the Organizer's discretion to determine what constitutes as "repeated."

Attire & Equipment

All players are required to wear appropriate footwear and clothing for field sports. Each player should bring a light and dark shirt to every game (so we can easily break up into teams). Soccer cleats & shin guards are strongly recommended because they help to prevent injury. But, they are not required.

Good Sportsmanship

This group was formed for four main reasons:

To unite people in the enjoyment of the beautiful game of soccer, or fútbol, as you like;

To socialize, make new friends, and enjoy each other's company;

To get some exercise while having fun at the same time; &

To give players of all skill levels a safe and friendly environment to play in.

We can only accomplish our group purpose if everyone practices good sportsmanship at all times during our games. It’s a must. That means:

Welcoming and getting to know other players;

Helping with field setup and breakdown;

Passing the ball often (& not just to friends or people you’ve played with before);

Volunteering to play goal-keeper rather than waiting for someone to ask;

No aggressive behavior, negative comments about other players, whining, or excessive arguing over past plays; &

No dangerous plays, such as slide tackles, body checks, high kicks, & flying kicks or headers. No play, no matter how great, is worth the risk of hurting someone.

Our group is not about competitive league play. It’s about meeting new people, making new friends, enjoying a great game, and above all, having fun!

If you feel someone is treating you poorly or making you feel unwelcome on the field, please speak with an organizer, and we'll get it sorted out. We want all players to feel welcome and safe in our group.

Communication

E-mail is the primary way that we communicate with the group. So, all members must register a valid e-mail with Meetup.com. Players cannot effectively participate in the group, and they will be removed.

When discussing specific games, we often communicate through Meetup comments. So, be sure to check those out as well. For those of you with a smartphone, we recommend that you download the Meetup app. It’s free, and it will notify you when new comments and game changes are posted.

Inactivity

Inactive players are periodically removed from our roster. Any player who does not attend at least 1 game within 3 months is considered inactive. If you are removed due to inactivity, you can always re-apply to the group when you plan to become active again.

Removal Policy

If you get removed from the group for any reason, you may apply to re-join, but approval is not guaranteed. A second removal is likely to be permanent. If you are banned, you will not be allowed to re-join the group under any circumstances.

Enforcement Of Rules

The group organizers reserve the right to take any and all reasonable steps necessary to ensure that the above rules are respected by all group members in their broadest sense. All members are required to agree to the rules upon registration, and any member who fails to follow them may be removed from the group. Honestly, most of this stuff is common sense. We're not out to give anybody a hard time. We just want to make the group as enjoyable as possible for everyone. The rules help us do that, so please respect them.

Thank you for reading. If the rules sound fair to you and you agree to follow them, we invite you to become a part of our group.

Risk of Injury

Like most sports, playing futbol/soccer comes with the risk of serious injury. By agreeing to the above rules and participating in your games/events, you understand that there is a risk of injury to you, possibly through no fault of your own. By participating in our games/events you understand and agree that you may be seriously injured during our games/events.

Northern California Golf Club

Fremont, CA

Northern California Golf Club

NORTHERN CALIFORNIA GOLF CLUB

We are a social golf meetup group, which offers its members an option to join our very own NCGA Associate Club by the same name: Northern California Golf Club.  To register, here is the link:

https://northerncaliforniagolfclub.memberplanet.com/

If you click on the above link, you'll see a green "Join This Club" button with a yellow star on it.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You are welcome to join us if you are an Intermediate+ golfer. Here are some expectations:

- Familiarity with basic rules of golf and golf etiquette, particularly the practice of honoring a good pace of play;

- Respect for the game and our members;

- Adherence to our policies, including showing up for events on time or earlier if requested.

Whether you participate in our golf outings or our non-golf social events, you are responsible for any damages or injuries you cause to property or other persons. You are participating at NCGC events at your own risk, and neither the Organizer nor the Event Organizers will be liable for damages or injuries caused by any of our members during our meetups or travel to and from our meetups. NCGC is also not liable for any injuries inflicted upon it members or damages done to members' properties or loss of properties (including golf equipment, transportation, etc.) during events and travel to and from our meetups.

Also, unless you are already a member of our Beginners group, you must use your real name or initials and a recent photo of yourself when signing up. If you are not comfortable with this policy or any of our other policies, this is not the group for you.

OUR GOALS AND ACTIVITIES

Let’s play our part in promoting and practicing the industry’s goal of finishing a round in about 4.5 hours.

For over two years, we have been providing exceptional golf experience to players of all ages, and our group keeps getting better and better. We will continue to play 18-hole courses all over the Bay Area and sometimes beyond.

We oftentimes hang out after the round for a meal or a drink. This is optional, so don't feel obligated to stick around if your plans do not permit it.

We are also open to suggestions for playing various courses in the Bay Area. If there is a course you would like to play, let one of the Event Organizers know and we will look to getting it on the calendar.

FEES

Annual NON-REFUNDABLE fee: $11.36

If a member is removed from our group, this fee will not be refunded.

ATTENDANCE and RSVPs

Our attendance policy is strict. This is a requirement as we reserve tee times up to two weeks in advance, and we are required to fill those tee times. Golf courses do not like last minute cancellations as they make their money by having full foursomes.

When you receive notifications of scheduled meetups, it is not necessary to reply "No" if you are not attending an event. You have the option to click on "Yes" or "No," but you don't have to; you can simply delete the email without replying. Of course, if you RSVP "Yes" then your plans change, you must update your RSVP to "No."

Do not sign up for a meetup if there's a chance that you might have to cancel at the last minute. It's better for you to sign up at the last minute than to cancel at the last minute.

* Although one no-show may result in the removal from our group, the first no-show may only be given a warning, depending on the circumstances.

 * Last-minute cancellations are frowned upon. A last-minute cancel is if you cancel your RSVP after the RSVP deadline or after an Event Organizer has posted the group assignments, which might be a day or two before the RSVP deadline.

* A combination of a no-show and last-minute cancellation will also result in the removal from our group.

* Last-minute cancellations will be accepted from our "regular" members who have a good attendance record—until it starts to become a habit.

Thank you for observing and respecting our policies. We work hard to ensure that our members always have a great experience on the golf course.

Welcome to the Northern California Golf Club. We look forward to your upcoming participation.

Volleyball. Training and Playing. Ocean Beach, San Francisco

San Francisco, CA

Volleyball. Training and Playing. Ocean Beach, San Francisco

WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THE GROUP?

Training and Playing was started out of the need to have more volleyball training locations available to the average, adult volleyball player. Up until now if you wanted to learn and improve your volleyball skills you would normally look online under “Volleyball in the area”, join a group that seemed appealing, and hopefully be accepted and learn by playing.

You probably found that most groups are looking for players who are intermediate or better. The few groups where beginners are welcome would not really have training available.

With Training and Playing you can get around like minded players who are wanting to train and get to playing as soon as possible. Besides players what else do you need to play volleyball? Balls, nets, courts, training courts, training nets. These are all available upon request.

WHO SHOULD JOIN?

IF you are an intermediate or advanced level player who has not found a group of players who are looking to improve their skills, come join us and get better faster.

If you are a novice or beginner who really needs to work on the basics, come join us and quickly get to the next level of play.

If you are a student player who has found that going the club route is way too expensive, come check us out.

If you just want to play volleyball and are a fun and generous person you should definitely come. We’ve been looking for you!

WHAT WILL YOU DO AT THE EVENTS?

First you will set up a training court.

Although this is training the main drill you will do is pepper. Is there a right way to pepper? Check this out: https://youtu.be/k-gqpvFq4Gw

We use pepper to warm up. Here are 12 variations of pepper. Three variations can be done with a net but don’t require a net. bit.ly/3CNO1wl

We then go into cooperative play, using the training court, where we focus on improving one or several skills at a time. You’re essentially peppering or playing; you play every ball as much as possible. It is during this time that you ask the players you’re practicing with for help on improving and you also offer tips that can help your fellow players. Here’s a video of players doing cooperative play. https://youtu.be/0-LPqjsZrPM

Finally, you do competitive play. There are rules bit.ly/2ZrDkky Here are a few videos of players doing competitive play https://youtu.be/Z2dDf7fscDo and https://youtu.be/zugeVkgJU0M

Watch this video to better understand what we’re doing with the training courts - working on ball control, vision, and touch on the ball. https://youtu.be/-_JNP2vsSuE

Northern California Golf Club's Beginner+ Group

Fremont, CA

Northern California Golf Club's Beginner+ Group

We are a social golf meetup group for those who have experience on a golf course, as well as beginners who have taken professional lessons.

Due to player developments or improvements in the golf skill level of many of the members, we branched out from our sister Club, the Bay Area Beginner Golf Meetup Group.

I am the creator of the below rules for the BABGMG (in 2012), so I am copying, pasting and updating them here, starting with some of our expectations:

- Familiarity with basic rules of golf and golf etiquette, particularly the practice of honoring a good pace of play;

- Respect for the game and our members;

- Adherence to our policies, including showing up for events on time or earlier if requested.

Whether you participate in our golf outings or our non-golf social events, you are responsible for any damages or injuries you cause to property or other persons. You are participating in NCGC's Beginner+ Group (NCGCb+) events at your own risk, and neither I/the Organizer nor the Event Organizers will be liable for damages or injuries caused by you or any of our members during our meetups or travel to and from our meetups. NCGCb+ is also not liable for any injuries inflicted upon it members or damages done to members' properties or loss of properties (including golf equipment, transportation, etc.) during events and travel to and from our meetups.

Also, you must use your real name or initials and a recent photo of yourself when signing up. If you are not comfortable with this policy or any of our other policies, this is not the group for you.

OUR GOAL

Let’s play our part in promoting and practicing the industry’s goal of finishing a round in about 4.5 hours.

OUR ACTIVITIES

Although this is a new golf meetup group, many members of this Club have been golfing together for more than 8 or 9 years. For close to a decade, we have been providing exceptional golf experience to players of all ages, and our group keeps getting better and better. We will continue to play 18-hole courses all over the Bay Area and sometimes beyond, as well as schedule 9-hole events and group golf lessons for the newer golfers in our group.

We oftentimes hang out after the round for a meal or a drink. This is optional, so don't feel obligated to stick around if your plans do not permit it.

We are open to suggestions for playing various courses in the Bay Area. If there is a course you would like to play, let one of the Event Organizers know and we will look to getting it on the calendar.

FEES

Annual NON-REFUNDABLE fee: $15.00

If a member is removed from our group, this fee will not be refunded.

ATTENDANCE and RSVPs

Our attendance policy is strict. This is a requirement as we reserve tee times up to two weeks in advance, and we are required to fill those tee times. Golf courses do not like last minute cancellations, as they make their money by having full foursomes.

A last-minute cancel is if you cancel your RSVP after the RSVP deadline or after an Event Organizer has posted the group assignments.

* A combination of a no-show and last-minute cancellation will also result in the removal from our group.

ADDITIONAL CONDITIONS

-- I understand that pace of play is very important to this group. If I am a slower player, I agree to pick up my ball if necessary to maintain a good pace of play.

-- Although there will be some 9-hole meetups scheduled, I understand that most of the meetups will be for those who are at an advanced-beginner or intermediate level. As a beginner, if I’d like (more) 9-hole or easier 18-hole meetups scheduled, I will request them.

-- I understand that this group takes its rules seriously and that infraction of any of the group’s policies will result in my removal without a refund of my membership dues.

-- I agree that by RSVPing to a meetup, I am committing to attend that event. I understand that cancellations should only be for exceptional circumstances and that multiple cancellations will result in my removal from this group without a refund of my membership dues.

-- I understand that some meetups may require a pre-payment, and in the event that I am unable to attend, it is my responsibility to find a replacement player. If a replacement is unavailable, I understand that I forfeit my pre-payment.

-- If health-related mandates are issued (including for COVID-19), I will be participating in NCGCb+ events at my own risk, and I agree to follow any and all social precautions imposed by the golf course and the county in which the course resides.

Thank you for observing and respecting our policies. We work hard to ensure that our members always have a great experience on the golf course.

Bed to Shred, Biking in The Greater SF Bay Area & Beyond!

San Rafael, CA

Bed to Shred, Biking in The Greater SF Bay Area & Beyond!

We're a group of acoustic mountain bikers, road cyclists, and gravel grinders (SORRY, NO EBIKES). Grab your bike and come roll with us so long as it's purely human powered, in good working order, terrain appropriate, and you can wield it. We'll also offer occasional get fit off the bike opportunities that level up your on the bike time as well as create that innate musculoskeletal protection, via mobility, flexibility, stability, & strength training, to help keep you better protected!

I’m a bike enthusiast, strength and fitness coach, yoga & pilates instructor, bodyworker, and more who’s on a journey to improve my bike skills and fitness, as well as use the bike to continue to restore my health and well being. When the group fills out and has regular dependable attendees the plan is to put together weekend bike adventures. The aim is for all of us average Joes and Janes and the more gifted to support one another to shred on year after year, after decade, on and on! Additionally the hope is to put together weekend bike adventures. Therefore a target is for this to be an active group. We’ll offer both small and the whole enchilada group rides for MTB & road. To encourage active participation and cover the cost of this group there’s a small yearly fee. In order to hold us accountable there's a penalty for no shows. It's an honor system--true emergencies and illness are valid excuses that won't incur a penalty so long as you let us know and remove your name from the RSVP. First cancellation is a freebie. Habitual no showers will be dropped from the group. Window lickers will be dropped from the group. Excluding illnesses, emergencies, and other valid long term absences such as temporarily out of state, etc, those with unexplained long term absences will result in being dropped from the group if you've not made any rides in a quarter and didn’t make an effort to let us know you’ll be away temporarily. It’s all about accountability…we’re here to ride, right, so let’s make it happen!

Do you've a great place to ride...let us know and we'll try and get it on the calendar. Have a time you prefer to ride, but we don't offer that time...if you're willing to be the ride leader let's make it happen, drop us a DM.

Road cycling: safety first, please always have a headlight & red flashing taillight.

Mountain Biking: if the scheduled ride’s w/in 2hrs of sunset it’s advised you have a flood/bar light & spot/helmet light even if it’s expected we’ll be done before dark.

Ideally have a trail app or map of the area. I usually know where I’m going, but say you inadvertently take a wrong turn and no one noticed. You’ll appreciate you’ve a trail app/map; better safe than sorry, although someone’ll eventually come looking for you!! With that if you decide to intentionally separate from the group please let the ride leader know so the calvary isn’t sent out searching for you.

Are you up for carpooling or caravanning to a particular ride? If so, please post in the discussion area of the specific ride you’re interested in. Include relevant details such as: if you’re iso a ride or can drive; rack capacity; where you can meet; and any details you feel are important to you.

FYI: IF no one’s RSVP 24hrs before a scheduled ride, said ride, without notice, MIGHT change in time &or location. Some RSVPs will close BEFORE the day of the event. If you’re n the fence, get off the damn fence and on your bike 😁

Modesto Fun, Fitness, and Adventures

Modesto, CA

Modesto Fun, Fitness, and Adventures

Thank you to everyone who participated in Modesto Women's Fun & Fitness in 2020!

For 2021, I am changing the name and focus of the group. While it will still be about fun and fitness, it will also be about new adventures and experiences. The group will also be open to women AND men. These activities will incorporate all three of those things--Fun, Fitness, and Adventure. I plan to research and schedule lots of fun outdoor activities and will welcome anyone's ideas going forward.

Group Changes for 2021:

Another change will be that members will now need to introduce and say a little bit about themselves upon joining. If you are already a member, please go in and answer these questions about yourself so that I and other group members can learn about you! In addition, while joining the group is free, in order to participate in future activities there will be yearly membership dues of $10 per person (a small price to pay for fun and meeting new people) in order to offset the cost of organizing the group. Additionally, I will be requiring everyone who joins to have a clear, recognizable photo of THEMSELVES in order to be a member. This is for several reasons, but the main ones are so I know what you look like when you join an event and can account for everyone that signed up, and most importantly, for all group members safety and security. If you join without posting a photo or use a one of a pet or one of your kids instead (not that we don't want to see them too!), I will kindly ask that you post a photo of YOU within seven days. If one is not posted by the deadline, you will be removed from the group. I will continue to look for free and low-cost activities, however, if there is a cost involved this will be posted on the event information, so please be sure to read it carefully and follow the instructions.

I look forward to meeting more of you in the coming year, experiencing new and enjoyable activities, and once COVID starts to settle down, participating in both indoor and outdoor activities. Safety precautions to decrease the likelihood of contracting the virus will always be of utmost importance!

Sacramento Area Golfers

Sacramento, CA

Sacramento Area Golfers

Welcome to the Sacramento Area Golfers (SAG). We are a co-ed group of intermediate to advanced golfers who participate in golfing events around the Sacramento area, other cities and countries!  We travelled together to So. Africa (2016),  Scotland (2017), SE Asia (2019), and planning Australia/New Zealand 2021!!  We usually play 18 holes but on occasion will play a 9 hole course after work, or join group practice sessions to build on our golfing skills.  We try to follow USGA guidelines to the best of our abilities.  The bottom line is, we just want to golf, enjoy each other's company, and have fun!  We DO try to observe the basics of golfing etiquette.

Minimum requirements to play with SAG:
- At least one year experience playing 18 hole courses.  This group is not for beginning golfers.
- Average score less than 110-115.  (If you're average score is closer to 120-130 you will need to increase your    skill level before playing with us)
-Know the basic rules of golf and golf etiquette
-You must have a recognizable photo of yourself on your member profile
-Please make sure that you have your first and last name on your member profile

Please know the basic rules of golf and golf etiquette before you play with our group.

Being focused on your "Pace of Play", playing "Ready Golf", and adhering to golf etiquette are very important concepts in our group. Less experienced golfers can play well with more experienced golfers when these rules are followed.

Please be aware of our RSVP cancellation policy:
"Members who cancel within 48 hours of an event must donate $20 to SAG's Membership Fund at
https://paypal.me/sacareagolfers Members are removed from SAG at Organizer's discretion after 3 no-shows. Please be courteous and remove your RSVP if you can’t attend an event".

Whether you participate in our golf outings or our non-golf social events, you are responsible for any damages or injuries you cause to property or other persons.  You are participating at SAG events at your own risk, and neither the Organizer nor the Event Organizers will be liable for damages or injuries caused by any of our members (or their guests) during our meetups or travel to and from our meetups.  SAG is also not liable for any injuries inflicted upon it members or damages done to members' properties or loss of properties (including golf equipment, transportation, etc.) during events and travel to and from our meetups.  SAG members are responsible for reimbursing SAG for any incurred costs associated with your event cancellation.

Drive Fore Birdies

San Francisco, CA

Drive Fore Birdies

Membership is limited and member dues are required.

Who We Are & Where We Play:

We're avid mid- and low-handicap coed golfers who regularly play 18-hole courses together. We enjoy spending time with friends and good people. We LOVE golf and enjoy our friendships! We play year-round and regularly have several outings per month at a variety of courses all over the San Francisco Bay Area.

Pairings:

Everyone is encouraged to mix it up and play with someone new so that everyone has a chance to play with different members and get to know one another. Depending on the event or outing, we may group golfers according to handicap brackets for pace of play reasons.

Post-Round Activities:

Post-round drinks and food at a local restaurant or at the clubhouse. We value our friendships as much as our love for the game, but post-round socialization is optional.

Membership Policies:

• Membership Application & Member Profiles:  You must maintain a clear and recognizable facial picture of yourself as your group profile picture and you must use your first name. Please join us at a regular group outing within one month of membership approval so that we get to know you as a member and you get the opportunity to meet the group as well. Once you've paid your annual member dues, your membership and application process is finalized. There are no refunds after your member dues have been paid.

• Attendance Requirements:  As we regularly play 18-hole courses together, ideal members are those who frequently play with the group at our regular outings. Select events may be for regular attendees only as a reward for their active participation in the group. Minimal members (1 or fewer regular group outings per ~6 month period) and non-participants are subject to removal from the group, which will allow more room to our regularly attending members for limited-access special events. Tournaments, special events including GM MFAD events or NCGA Member Outings, and travel do not count toward meeting the minimal member  attendance requirement.

• RSVP & Cancellation Deadlines:  Keep your RSVP status updated. All details including cancellation deadlines are posted on each event page.

• Single/Twosome Vouchers or Deals:  Let members know your situation or plan. Please mention when you RSVP if you've purchased a twosome voucher/deal or are looking to share on someone else's purchase. If you missed out after they're sold out, either find someone who purchased a twosome or check if rack rate is available.

• Late Cancellations:  If you need to cancel after the posted deadline, contact me with your cancellation reason and update your own RSVP. Your absence will be considered a no-show unless you provide a valid explanation before the event. Members who no-show or last-minute cancel are subject to removal from the group.

About Me:

I host Drive Fore Birdies out of my own free time. Membership dues cover what Meetup charges me to host the group on their platform.

• Drive Fore Birdies organizer & host

• started Drive Fore Birdies in 2016, started playing golf in 2016

• 1st place winner at Monarch Bay's 2018 coed individual match play tournament, so they've given me the nicknames Champ and Queen

• 1st place winner for women's longest drive and 2nd place winning coed team in randomly drawn 4-person scramble at Half Moon Bay 2019

East Bay Pick-Up Soccer (Co-Ed) EVERYBODY WELCOME!!!

San Leandro, CA

East Bay Pick-Up Soccer (Co-Ed) EVERYBODY WELCOME!!!

Words from the group's founder: Daniel "Uber" Bäsel

I am looking to start up a casual pick up game here in the East Bay with some like minded people. To see if you are interested, let me introduce myself...

About me:

I was born and raised in Germany and played soccer from the age of 3 all the way through high school and then casually into my late 20's.

Now in my mid-30's and many pounds heavier, I am far from peak conditioning but would like to start casually playing soccer again on the weekends.

Ideally I would like to play either Saturday or Sunday mornings for about 2 hours in the San Leandro/Castro Valley/Hayward area at a location we can all agree on. I can provide the nets and cones as well.

EVERYBODY is welcome, but if you are a pro player and expect an ultra competitive setting this may not be for you.

I would love to build a little community of like minded soccer fans from around the world to spend a few hours with each week kicking the ball around!

If you are interested, please join this group and i will get in contact with you!!

RULES:

Here are a few rules to follow when deciding to join us for a friendly pick-up game. most of these are pretty "common sense" but I still think it is a good idea to lay them out so everyone knows what to expect (Please note that breaking these rules will eventually result in a ban from this group):

1) "The Golden Rule": We are all here to have fun, get a little exercise in and walk away happy and most importantly healthy. Slide tackling/Body Checking is ABSOLUTELY NOT permitted ANYTIME and doing so will result in a warning as well as a free kick for the other team.

2) "Everybody's Game" : This is a MeetUp group for EVERYONE who would like to come and play. Young and old, male or female, skilled or brand new to the game of soccer. Please treat it as such. If you are a skilled player with lots of experience, try to involve the players who may be new to the game as good as you can.

3) "Foul Language" : We are all adults in this group and I sure have a potty mouth at times. Just a few things to keep in mind though. Cursing or directing foul language at another player is NOT TOLERATED and will result in a warning. If the game angers you to the point where you have to direct foul language at another player, perhaps this is not the meetup for you.

4)"Goalies" : Most people don't like to play goalie but if we all share the duty of playing goalie, it becomes less of a hassle for everyone. Please volunteer to play goalie rather than having to be asked to.

This is a group for intermediate golfers. We regularly play 18-hole courses in the South Bay and around the Bay Area. Both men and women of all ages are encouraged to join. But note that the core group is baby boomers.

Our goal is to play a lot of golf and have fun in the process. All members must be familiar with pace of play and course management, basic golf rules, golf safety and golf etiquette and a good attitude is a must. We often gather in the clubhouse or at a local restaurant after each round for food and beer. This is optional, but drinks after a round may be required to forget your score.

Women Walking Berkeley's Beautiful Neighborhoods

Berkeley, CA

Women Walking Berkeley's Beautiful Neighborhoods

When the pandemic began and my gym closed, like many, I started to daily walk. I conscripted friends and we would walk Berkeley's different neighborhoods. Sometimes we would walk fire trails. Our habit was to walk for a couple of hours, occasionally stopping a few moments to admire a garden, beautiful home, bird in a tree or poem on fence. I would bring my BAHA and BHS pamphlets along so we could learn about homes of architectural note we might encounter. Since the introduction of vaccines and boosters, many of those friends have stopped walking, going back to work, the gym or resuming other aspects of their previous lives. I would like to continue being outside and walking, while providing a venue for friendship. During each meeting, this group will walk a different neighborhood of Berkeley (or a nearby town) for two hours or so. Note these walks are meant to be enjoyable, leisurely and relaxing; the "workout" is a result of the distance walked, NOT the speed. Too, the focus is as much about Nature and camaraderie as it is about beautiful homes (I will be mentioning architects in these descriptions since I cannot forecast what wonders Nature will have in store). Walks may include some modest elevation gain. For the first few walks, we will meet in Willard Park in The Elmwood. Please know that although I am 69 years old, this group encourages women of all ages to come together. Please bring a mask. Unless it is torrential, rain will NOT cancel.
