Ready for a challenging fall adventure? Join us for a weekend backpacking trip in beautiful Amicalola Falls State Park.

📅 Trip Details
Dates: Friday November 7 to Sunday November 9
Departure: Thursday afternoon — we’ll coordinate carpools and drive together
Arrival & Hike Start: Early Friday morning from Amicalola Falls

🥾 Hiking Plan
Friday
• Arrive at Amicalola Falls State Park in the morning
• Leave one vehicle there & shuttle the other to US-42 (Springer Mountain parking) — so it’s waiting for the exit on Sunday
• Start hiking from Amicalola on the Approach Trail
• 8.8 miles to Springer Mountain Shelter (and the southern AT terminus!)
Saturday
• Hike ~8 miles northbound on the AT to Hawk Mountain Shelter
Sunday
• Hike ~8 miles back to US-42 parking
• Shuttle back to Amicalola, head home

🧭 Experience Level
This adventure is for experienced backpackers only.
You must be comfortable with:
• Steep elevation gain
• Carrying a full pack for ~9–11 miles
• Cold-weather backcountry camping

You are fully responsible for your own:
✅ Backpack + shelter (tent/hammock)
✅ Sleeping system (rated for November temps!)
✅ Food & snacks
✅ Water + filter/purification system
✅ First aid + any personal medications
✅ Proper footwear + layered clothing
✅ Bear bag/canister recommended
