The 3rd Annual Beatles SOJO (in our new location)

  • Jun 29, 2013 · 2:00 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

We have a fifth Saturday coming up in June, so mark your calendars for an extra SOJO that will be a little different from our usual routine.  We'll be doing songs the Beatles recorded as a group as well as in their solo careers.  Think of all the great possibilities!

The first half of the SOJO will be for songs we want to spend some time on so we can work out different instrumental parts, solos and vocal arranging.  Instrumentalists!  Do you know a riff or break from a Beatles song?  Let’s try to work it in.  And don’t worry, it doesn’t have to be “perfect.”  As always, this is for FUN!  The second half of the Beatles SOJO will be in our usual song circle style.

Please include some song suggestions in the comments when you RSVP.  We’ll be preparing a lyrics and chords handout based on all the song suggestions people make.  If anyone wants a particular version of a song included, just post it in “Files” and we’ll put it in the handout.  Or you can e-mail it to Margi at [masked]
This event is always a lot of fun.  Let's make the 3nd Annual Beatles SOJO the best ever!

We're now meeting in a new location!  While our regular meeting place is being renovated, we've had to come up with an alternative location for the next few months. Please be sure to log in and check out the new address when you RSVP. More detailed directions and parking info can be found in a File dated February 7 under the More tab.

I enjoyed it immensely. Those are still great songs. Here's to the Fab Four -- two are still with us and the others live on in their music. I hope they're never forgotten.

One of the most fun events I've been involved with in quite awhile! 5 3/4 stars for me (have to leave some room for upward mobility ...)

Still hoping to come but will be late arriving if I do get there. No suggestion for songs as not a big Beatle fan, although I'm sure I'll recognize more of the tunes than I do of thesuggested titles.

I tentatively plan to attend (might have to leave a little early, though. About song suggestions -- I'm not sure about the scope of what's acceptable. What about songs the Beatles performed but didn't actually write? What about Beatles tributes?

Someone suggested last Beatles SOJO to do "I Don't Want to Spoil the Party". We didn't get to do it, so I'd love to do it this time! I'd also like to do "I've Just Seen a Face", "Dear Prudence", and "Here, There and Everywhere." "Please Please Me", "This Boy", and "If I Fell" are also great songs!

I'll try to play the piano parts for "For No One," and John Lennon's "Love." And maybe the guitar part for "And I Love Her" on piano too -- anyone have a pair of claves?
