Have you ever performed music in front of an audience (not counting Karaoke or social jams)?

Yes, in my teens and 20s, but much less after that and more recently only maybe 2 or 3 times a year. As I got older I got more self-conscious about performing and it ceased to be an objective.

Do you play or are you learning a musical instrument? If so, which?

Guitar, bass, keyboards, not enough mandolin to count. Would like to learn pedal steel.

Who's your #1 favorite folk or folk-rock performer? Or, who are some of your favorites?

Richard Thompson--a phenomenal guitar player and compelling vocalist. On the X chromosome side, Dar Williams is the real deal. And the old guard - Dylan, McGuinn, Judy Collins, Arlo Guthrie -- all still on the scene! Even tho she is bluegrass, I love Rhonda Vincent.

What are some of your favorite folk or folk-rock songs?

"Simple Twist of Fate" is a good one. Even "I Am A Rock"... no joke! Mountain Stage and Prairie Home Companion almost always have the kind of music I like. Rise Up Singing has some of the first songs I ever learned to play although some of the songs have the chord structure simplified, and some are just plain wrong. Still, it's a great resource.

Tell us anything else about yourself you'd care to tell. Answering all these questions is optional, but we're interested.

Been going to SOJO now for 5 years at least. Most all the time it's good fun.

I never considered myself a performer, or anything close -- but I just like guitar and a pretty wide range of music.
