Maple Beach at Cultus Lake BBQ and Paddle (Attendance taken)

Details

Hi everyone,

Let's hope the weather is nice and if it isn't, then we cancel the event with two days notice before the event.

You have to arrive at the Maple Beach parking lot before 10 AM to ensure you have a parking spot. Because this is a long weekend, the parking might get full fast. Given the limited parking situation, attendance will be taken. You have to cancel within 48 hours. No shows for carpool rides will be immediately removed from the group.

I will bring a BBQ grill, propane, a table and a canopy. This is NOT a potluck. You bring your own food and drink to eat. You can grill your own food. If you have friends in the group going to this event, you can coordinate your menu together. There are restaurants and supermarkets in Chilliwack for you to order takeout to bring to the event.

We will hang out at the park/beach, cook and eat our food. Afterwards, you can go for a swim or paddle. Cultus Lake has speed boats and skidoos so there are frequent wakes. Some of you might find the paddling fun. Others might not like the turbulence as much.

We will end the event by 3 pm at the latest so we can avoid the heavier traffic in going back home. There are blueberry farms in the Lindell area for U-pick but the season might be over by August 4. This is a fairly warm summer.

Please bring a change of clothes. If you plan to bring your own boat, please wear a personal flotation device. PFDs are mandatory and failure to wear one will result in expulsion from the group.

You can also bring your own chairs, beach matt, and your own cooking equipment if you want to. Charcoal BBQs are not allowed in this area.

By RSVP, yes, you agree to the risks in an outside environment. The organizer is not responsible for any injury, illness or any other liabilities you acquired before, during or after the event. We do not tolerate reckless behaviour. We are a group of volunteers and not professional tour guides. As a group of friends and acquaintances, we will look after one another.

If you cancel, please be courteous and provide 48 hours cancellation notice so people in the wait list can be moved to going.
