I'm reading a book by John Waters, the rather quirky movie director, about his idols..some of whom are 'artists'...(of the canvas variety)..and as I was reading his descriptions of their 'art' I remembered going to MOMA in NYC and other museums & galleries and thinking...REALLY??? This is AHT?? They get millions of dollars for this 'stuff'?
But I continued to read his interpretations trying to keep an open mind, because John Waters is, if nothing else, a creative genius (IMHO)...so I thought...hmmm..have I become so stuffy that can't see the 'art' behind the ..ahem...fake turd?
Sorry to be so graphic, but I want to discuss graphic arts..what is and what is 'not' art in your opinion...should the government fund an artist regardless of their medium of choice, message, or rating (mean 'X' for example, if it were a movie).
See you then,
